Going to see Michael Moore?

He’s speaking at UB Saturday night.

Personally, I’d rather run a dull 1/4-20 tap through my ears than listen to him spew half truths and blatant lies, but the wife wants to go so maybe I can get some ass out of the deal. :gotme:

+3. I can’t believe anybody would want to actually listen to that bullshit.

they should have him and ann coulter duke it out

Sure, the guy is way left, but this thoughts about health care are right on.

This is coming from a guy who had absolutely no health insurance for several years right out of college, and just finally got it.

Bring a laser pointer and see how long it takes to get kicked out for drawing on his gut.

PS: You’ve been married less than a year. If you have to attend Michael Moore events just to get some you’re going to be in real sorry shape 5 years from now.

Bring a grenade for me please

yeah im a communist because i want free health care that makes sense??? i think what whaaaa??? go see sicko and do a little research on health care company’s and there true views and goals.

The Canadian system is about to collapse (or already has depending on which Canadian you talk to) and they’re a much healthier society with far less poverty than the US. Anyone who thinks universal health care in the US is a good idea isn’t a communist, they’re just refusing to look at the real costs.

And ROFLing at “doing research” and “watching michael moore films” being used in the same sentence, unless that sentence is “I was researching one sided propaganda films mascarading as documentaries”.

Our health care system is a joke too. People make shit up so a pill can be created. Then pay out the ass for the pill for the fake problem. Then proceed to be subscribed 3 more pills for the side effects of the first pill. After that take 2 more pills to take care of the complications from the 3 pills, that take care of the first pill.

The United States medical system is one thing and one thing only, a cash cow. I’m not saying other countries have better systems, but ours is also fucked up beyond belief.

I’m trying to understand your argument. Are you arguing that our health care system enables hypochondria? If it does, isn’t that evidence that it’s so good that people can take advantage of it and get treatment that they don’t need?

:word: most don’t know that some Canadians actually travel over the border to American doctors offices and PAY for services because it sucks so bad in Canada.

Plus Universal Healthcare isn’t free healthcare like everyone thinks… the money will come from somewhere so if it ever were to happen… say hello to higher taxes. Much higher.

I bring this up in every one of these health care threads, but it’s such a great example. A guy I work with has dual citizenship because he married a Canadian. He could have “free” healthcare in Canada but instead pays for a family plan at my work. This guy doesn’t make a whole lot of money and has child support payments from a previous marriage so it’s not like he’s doing this because he has money to burn. He’s told me many times how bad the “free” healthcare is, and how it’s only getting worse. And look at all the taxes they have paying for a bad system.

What makes me laugh is all these, well I like to call them “Pie in the sky liberals” who argue “well just because it doesn’t work elsewhere doesn’t mean we can’t do it”.

Bullshit. It doesn’t work in a country with a much healthier population with far less people but you think you’ll make it work here? And your party refuses to put a stop to rediculous lawsuit awards, so now you’re going to have more greedy lazy people getting free crappy healthcare making even more lawsuits. Oh yeah, this sounds like a great plan.

Here’s a good idea. Crack down on the waste, stop allowing drug companies to sell medicines to poor countries at super low rates that we’re financing with the high rates we pay, raise office visit copays to a rate that would make people think twice about seeing a dr. every time they get the sniffles (waiving the fee is at the dr’s discretion), put serious limits on pain and suffering awards and pass laws to prevent frivilous lawsuits. All these things would greatly reduce the cost of healthcare then you can offer businesses real tax incentives to help pay for a decent portion of their employee’s health insurance.

Oh, and start allowing HMO’s to charge more for people’s bad lifestyle choices. Alcoholic, rate increase. Overweight, rate increase. Smoker, HUGE FUCKING RATE INCREASE. Make sure the law is written that they cannot charge for conditions outside your control (family history of heart disease etc). But if you choose to be a burden on the system, the system should charge you more. Just like if you’re constantly getting speeding tickets it costs you more to insure your car, if you’re constantly eating at McDonalds while smoking 2 packs a day you should be charged more for health insurance.

i was being sarcastic. i’m probably one of the biggest supporters of universal health care.
and for everyone that brings up canada, why dont you bring up areas like the scandinavian countries, that get 10x more out of their government for less than we pay
