we know a guy that started one of those spray chrome setups. hes a long time autobody painter. The results are actually damn nice, like the chrome looks like chrome, not cheezy shit looking. And he has red, blue bronze and I think a gold chrome he can shoot. It would get the job done for I assume alot less than real gold plating.
gotta keep in mind, plating is thin, if that valve cover has proisity, mold edges, and shit… all those details will shine through. It might be gold but it might look like gold sand paper if its not smooth. Same with the spray chrome, but that can be shot over body work… so you could skim some filler on it and block it out smooth like a babys ass then shoot.
If its done right, smoothed, cast markings filled/smoothed, it comes out awesome. However it would be a lot of work. I’d rather have the real deal than the spray gold.
