Looks good.
Just don’t take on the name Goldtop. :squint:
That would be too ghey, even for Sasha.
In all seriousness though, it does look nice Sasha, pretty well sprayed too! Did you think about maybe sanding the embossed lettering? Perhaps polishing them?

I’m sorry, but I don’t see a 240sx in your list of cars. :gtfo:

i cant really see how sexy it looks.
i too am going with a gold valve cover but it’ll be very different.
Damn it everone, stop stealing my valve cover colour…
I figured it was too ghetto for anyone else to copy it…
GOSH!
Details on painting process.
- Degrease/clean valve cover
- Sand it down as much as you can
- Degrease/clean it some more (to remove fine dust from sanding)
- Do 4-6 coats of paint, making sure to wait 20-30min between each coat.
- ???
- Profit
That’s how I did it. I figure Sasha did it similar.
Pics of how I did it at (super high res pics):

Grit of sandpaper?
Paint used?
sahsa you shoulda polished it
its not like you have anything better to do, and you can build up the muscle in your wee fingers lad.
here is what 2 hours with a dye grinder did for me
ya im doing gold too
but im going to make mine compleatly fucked with like crazy lettering and bs all over it 8)
purple kandy pwns you all.
I think I used only two levels of grit papers. I think one was 80 or 100
for the first stage to get most of the shit off. And the other was 400 or
higher to smooth things out.
For the nooks and crannies, probablly best to use a dremel.
Paint was DupliColor Engine Enamel (#DE 1604 Universal Gold)

Gonad suggested I just get mine powdercoated but i was like bahhh 100-150 that I should spend elsewhere, Its just to clean up the engine bay a little hehe
Well the S13 SR blacktop / S14 SR valve covers are rough similar to honda valve covers so you have to sand it like a gino to get it smooth, so I started with 120grit and got it all smooth, then I moved up to 400 grit smoothed it out even more, then 800 grit to leave the surface almost mint, washed it with soap, dried it and then left it for 20min or so to air dry, and then did about 6 light coats with 10-15min flash times. There was some bullshit in the air though so theres some dust in the gawd damn paint which pissed me off but oh well. Good for a 10$ job I’d say
Pics thanks to scottys cam
