Gold Valve Cover.

To get rid of the light dust wet sand it…

Use a 4000grit sand paper soak it in water and sand away very lightly
while constantly drizzeling water over the spot you are sanding. Then
take a polishing compound like a meguires Step 1 and rub away at it…

It will come out looking like real gold when your done.

I don’t remember Sasha if you saw my new silvia hood before I wetsanded it.

But it went from stock 15 year old junkyard paint to fresh from the showroom floor goodness.

The problem with DIY jobs on these valve covers are the small corners
and crannies. I guess if you take your time, you can achieve pretty good
results. I tried my best, but you can see in mine, the corners and stuff
didn’t turn out that great.

Thanks j.tos

the biggest problem I had with mine was inside the small “A” in the word “Cam” i couldn’t find anything that would sand in thereand get it smooth, and the paint didnt seem to go down there either. Its annoying

I’ll consider giving her a wetsand but I’m not too worried about it.

lol omgg… ahhh… im going to do it too now… to my 12valve =P! hell yeah! I got a spare valvecover too >=]!

This might sound like a stupid question, but isn’t powdercoating something like this easier? ie hard to sand spots…

Elaboration is the key here.

Dumb questions still need lovin’

Probobly, but I didn’t want to pay to do it and I like doing things myself so I just gave’r

And you also want a working Crankcase Breather Valve…

One thing you don’t want to do is Powder Coat a SR Valve Cover.

They have an intagrated CBV and are only made of plastic.

When they bake the cover it actually melts the valve.

Most are lucky that they melt open but few have had them melt close and ooooeeee… BOOM!

looks mint

Holy shit dude, what the hell are you doing looking that far back??

wow I don’t even think he is running that anymore, if he is it is probably only half gold now…

lol back to the future!.. past…

You’re on crack.
