i got bored yesterday so i decided to refinish my tired looking valve cover. it started out looking like this:
pretty ugly, i know. i basically washed it with water and dish soap, dried it, sanded it, then cleaned it again. here is a pic of it almost ready for paint:
the last thing i did before painting it was to put chapstick on the lettering. the finished product:
nothing to fancy or special, just thought i would share.

it was rustoleum, but not the hammer finish. it was the textured stuff, i’ll go take a pic in a little bit.

I’m still not sure why people sand down thier valve covers, total wasted effort.
aerosol paint strpper and the paint wipes off, wash and paint
???
profit.
Either way it looks new again

quite simply, i had sandpaper and i didn’t have aerosol paint stripper. i knew it wasn’t the most efficient way to do it, but…end result.
thanks for the compliments guys.
