Good\Decent Priced Gyms in Monroeville

I am wondering if anyone knows of some gyms in monroeville that are worth going to. My friend just got his Masters in Civil Engineering and decided to move to Monroeville thinking he would find a job. He has been there a while now and cant find a job so he needs to find a cheaper gym to lift at. He said the only one he found was $100 a month and I know there has to be better deals than that up there. Please give me some names, numbers, and prices if you could. Thank you.

YMCA, 16.50 a month with college ID!

my buddy lives in monroeville and goes to a gym… lemme ask him

Where is the YMCA? This guy is Malasian so I need to give him an address that he can mapquest look-up. He gets lost pretty easily.

the oxford club is right by the mall but i have no clue what it costs, i doubt it’s more than your average place, doesn’t look too nice.

There has to be some good deals out there. I pay $10 a month in a higher cost of living

i am not sure where it is, but they are all over… i go to the one in sewickley

Oxford club costs a ton…

I go to club Julian on Mcknight.

40/mo
24 hours
pool/sauna/steamroom/whirlpool
free trainers

I will suggest that one to him.

Oxford is a great facility but it is very expensive. I work in an oxford building next to the racquetball club so I got a discount. With the discount I was still paying 89.00/month. If he likes to swim, shoot hoops, play racquet/squash it may be worth him looking into. The weight room is also loaded with lots of equipment. Tons of treadmills and elipticals too.
But if he is just looking for a gym there is one right down the street from Oxford called(I believe) Paramount or something. It is right across the street from the do it yourself carwash on Monroeville Blvd. It is pretty nice too. I have worked out there with a friend and it doesnt sem to get all that crowded.

dude that gym is north of the city if he doesn’t mind driving 45 minutes to the gym than that’s a good call

yeah… its about 8 miles OFF of 279.

not really a good location for him, But its a kickass gym

oxford athletic club is nice…my wife knows some people that go there.

its mad pricy!!

I’ve been inside they got nice stuff from what i saw…indoor tennis, hoops, gym, pool etc…

Plus you get to use one of the outdoor pools in churchill too in the summer time.

its worth it if you got the cash & plan to utilize everything.

I though thier memberships were “family based” not per person

& i think its somewhere in the $150/month ballpark per family.

there is a bally’s in pennhills, of rodi, near the shopping center…not sure of the cost or quality though.

my wife is trying to join one this summer…so any info you guys have on this would be good.

$150/family isnt bad at all.

As far as bally’s i hate bally’s. its always ass packed and they close

no not bad but if its just for you, or you & your wife & you can’t utilze the “family” by letting friends in its not the best deal.

i think family is for 4 people.

& there might be a initlal joining fee

kinda like the PAA (pittsburgh athletic association) in oakland
i forget the exact figure but you need like $300 or $500 up front…even before the monthly fee.

bally’s is bad news… i’ve seen numerous ppl sent to collections because bally’s would either ‘make a billing error’ or totally renig on their sign up fee and send them to collections. i’d avoid them if at all possible.

i told her stay away from them…i’ve only heard bad things.

gearhead was a member @ one time & told her the same thing so she took his advice.

I think she was just into them when she first started looking cause it was close to us.

i think paramount is pretty cheap…it’s right down the road from oxford club
