Good idea or bad : Solid exhaust brackets

I had to cut the rubber hanger that held my muffler, as well, the exhaust
mounting bracket that’s located at the transmission and catlyctic converter
broke off due to rusting, while I was doing my clutch swap.

So I’m reusing the bracket at the transmission and my dad’s going to
fabricate an SS piece so I can support the exhaust there.

Now for the back, would it be a good idea or bad to create a solid mount,
one without any sort of rubber (or urethane) hangers? Basically some
sort of SS bracket that bolts the muffler directly to somewhere on the
frame. I don’t have a welder so I’m using C-clamps.

I’ll have pics shortly when my dad fabricates the exhaust bracket.

I would say bad idea, unless you have a flex pipe in there near the motor.

When you step on it, the motor twists, if you don’t have anything that gives on your exhaust system, you could break your manifold.

Bad idea if you have polyurethane or stock motor/tranny mounts. Good idea if you have solid motor and transmission mounts.

Ok, good enough.

My dad is just gonna build a bracket around the rubber mounts. The rear
I managed to re-hang (apparently I didn’t cut the rubber hangers as I
had originally thought).

Aight, cool thanks.
