Good lawyer for Amherst Traffic court?

My girlfriends’ lawyer essentially lied to her to the point where he not only let her license get suspended, but kept telling her “it’s all taken care of, don’t worry about it.” and last he told her “i’m just waiting to hear back about the court date.”

She couldn’t get direct answers from him and when she went to Amherst court to ask about her suspension and what is going on, they told her he never even did anything for her. No paperwork was done and “I’m waiting for a court date” meant “I haven’t even done a thing for you in the last two months. Oh? You got another misdemeanor ticket for a suspended license because I’ve been lying to you? Oh well… I’ll just continue to tell you don’t worry.”

I wish she got something in writing during all of this. It was all phone calls and I’d have loved if she could somehow sue her old lawyer for letting it lapse to the point where now she is facing stiffer charges in another town.

So…

Who knows of a great lawyer that deals with Amherst Court? She wants to pick up a new lawyer to get her paperwork from the old lawyer and ACTUALLY help her.

What did she do? I’m pretty sure in Amherst court you get parking for anything short of a DWI or running over an Amherst cop. Yeah, it might be a lot of parking tickets, but Amherst loves reducing everything to parking so they can keep the revenue.

Same with OP. $80 parking tickets.

I’d recommend my main man Craig Bernhardt. He has gotten me out of some wacky shit, and I have never even had to go to court in person. He knows Amherst court I believe. He is pretty reasonable price wise. Good guy!

$80 parking ticket??? mine was $125

I have the best lawyer in Amherst. Nobody is better. PM me for the info. He is the best, he has gotten me out of some crazy shit.

yep Ive used said lawyer. helped me out a bunch. and a car guy

oof

Sam Maislin.

He used to be the Amherst DA, but he is $$$

I’d go with Justin’s guy…I know a bunch of board members have used him. IIRC he’s pretty tight with the DA

An alternative would be Sam Maislin…he’s mostly DWI’s but he used to be an Amherst court judge before Klein.

She had a clean record but got two speedy speeding tickets within a one week period. It was supposed to be a quick in-n-out with a lawyer.

The lawyer never did a thing for her and when she got the DMV Suspension Pending notices he told her “Don’t worry about it, I’ve got it taken care of.”

She wants a new lawyer to clean up the mess because since she got pulled over for a stop sign out in NF, she got a “Suspended License” ticket. I’m pissed and she’s even more pissed since the lawyer constantly told her he’s taking care of it, yet he never even went to court at all or did anything with her two tickets!

It would have been better if she just plead not-guilty and went to face the judge for two tickets! The whole point was to avoid that… and now she’s 10 times worse off because of that scumbag A*#*)@)#.

PM’d Justin. She doesn’t care how much it costs now, she just wants this all cleaned up. I don’t blame her…

edit:

I’m j/k, i just wanted to embed a video since i haven’t done that yet.

Maybe your GF should have slept wit him instead of leading him on???

So wait, she’s only been dealing with this guy for 2 months, and received suspension things in the mail from the DMV. They don’t send them out until after they haven’t heard from you for FOUR months. It sounds like she is semi-responsible for this. And unless it’s Buffalo, who gets a lawyer for a speeding ticket? Town courts LOVEEEEEEEEEE reducing. Money in their pockets!

We are ALL responsible if we get pulled over and get a ticket. And Dawn, where did I say 2 months?

Sigh, never mind. From the very beginning she was dealing with the lawyer. MONTHS later, after he said “it’s all set, don’t worry about it.” she got the DMV items in the mail. She talked to him, he took the papers and again and he said “ignore them, it’s all set. I’ll take care of it.”

How much explaining do I really need to do? She did exactly what she thought would make it easier for her. Her and I both understand that Amherst pleas down everything, but since there were two identical tickets only a week apart, she didn’t want to risk it. it was her personal choice to 1. make it easier because she wouldn’t have to go to court. 2. didn’t want the risk of dealing with the same judge who may throw the book at her for doing the same thing twice in a row.

Even after the suspended license ticket he told her he was working on it. He wasn’t. Now it’s time to find another lawyer that can help clean it all up.

Justin tossed me the info. Thanks everyone.

Now she’s paying double for lawyer fees to fix what the other lawyer did, who I’m assuming she has to pay for his time too, when it probably would have been +/-$200?
