One of my buddys is a founder and in NYC right now :tspry:

Always like to see people bring value to Buffalo

I’ve heard mixed things about working at Synacor (evidently they scoop up a lot of UB grads), but overall I think it’s nice for software engineers to have choices other than working in health care in this area, and I hope things keep going well for the company.

Initial esitmates were $11-$12 and now they’ve revised them to $5-$6.

Out of all the IPO offerings right now, as far as IT goes…I’d take a look at EPAM - ~60% increase in sales @ 9 months in Sept.

Regardless, to local companies

It was more interesting to see this actually happen they have been talking/trying to do this for years.

Word, weren’t they trying back in 2009?

This is good news for Buffalo and I think 5 - 6 bucks is a good price… employees will get a nice buy in price

I know current and past co-workers that have worked their. I here the work environment is cool and casual but they work you to the bone and when your on call, you are working around the clock and they are a revolving door (check craigslist).

A friend who worked there for years has been holding his options waiting for this. he already sold off alot of his. hes holding half to see what it will climb to.

Buffalo blows.

On a side note, I had no idea that company was that big. I always saw them at the career fairs at UB and seemed interesting but holy hell, $75 million is a pretty nice IPO offering.

They write some pretty widely used software

Synacor started off as check.com(spelling?) which at one point was on the of largest email places on the internet

chek.com IIRC

They do lots of different hosted/managed platforms, Email ,Portals, Content Delivery.

The general impression I got though, is they are stingy about hiring and can pay shit and work you to death.

Seems like its teetering right now on the low end. I wonder if any early employees got equity and ended up cashing in anything.
