goodyear plants on strike

Just as an FYI your tax rate will change with your increase earnings. You will be in a different earnings bracket.

Sorry to say folks this is what happens in the US and abroad. If you don’t like the company then don’t buy the tires, especialy now. Lets hope this issue is resolved between the two parties and bussiness can go on as usual.

Best of luck

so only the tire builders are on strike? or the warehouse workers as well?

lol no he hit the nail on the head.

back to the olden days of the one day off and 12 hours youch im glad i walked the machine shop when i was working 10 hour days for 5 days in front of a machine running 10min run times if thats the case i wouldnt do it i put up with it for 3 months because everynow and then i slept. but i bet this is not the same at all. if you dont like free time or even a good brake from the same things dont do it. but if your money hungry then go for it.

some of these comments of people wanting the work to go over seas are absolutely crazy. If any of you had family who worked for these places Im sure you’d be singing a different tune.

 My job is going to the Phillipines by 2009, if not sooner.

Don’t do it.These ppl are just trying to get a fair wage and not lose health care and such.Unions don’t want to strike, period.I forget what they are trying to take away, hopefully Kev will back me up on that.Remember The little guys(peons) are not the bad guys who are so overpaid.Gm execs and GY’s too I assume, get bonuses of like millions os dollars a yr,then bitch they need cut jobs to be profitable. We at GM gave up our raise to GM this year so they wouldn’t touch our benefits. It was like $.90 an hr.I will bet anyone money that the big execs still got their bonuses this year as always+ a few milion $$$ salary to sit at a desk.If no scabs go to work then the strike will be over sooner and these ppl can go back to supporting their families and such. Also I’m pretty sure they don’t get full pay when they strike.I know we only get $100 a week for awhile until something else kicks in.

I know I couldn’t sleep at night being a scab.Remember It isn’t always about the $$$ which seems a little weird coming from be.I hope you’ll reconsider.

:word:

You def. dont get full pay when you are on strike or health insurance.

part of what i’m wondering about is when I come back. would they cut my pay back down to 8.75 or keep it at 13/hr. I will be recieving my paycheck from the retail store I currently work at if that is a factor.

you can definatly tell the union folks in this crowd. im getting sick of these people being referred to as “scabs.” they are working to support their families just like you. your not special…your just as expendible as anyone else. it looks like your the scab…walking out on a job many people will kill for.

people just dont know how to look outside of the box. its all relative, goodyear and dunlop employees are walking out because they feel they are being mistreated. but there are plenty of people that would gladly work for what the union cant agree on…and do just as good of a job. companies all over the country are cutting benefits and wages just to compete in the global market and most employees are happy just to have a job to go to. but the union folks are so conceited to think that the company owes them. that mind frame will change quick when a mexican is doing your job.

They aren’t going to pay you $13 when you go back, use some common sense…going from working at a goodyear STORE and the goodyear FACTORY are completely different jobs. Also I totally agree with miestro and what he’s saying there…

They are indeed “scabs”. It’s all relative, if you worked there Im sure you’d be right there in that strike with every other employee. Most of these people aren’t in their 20’s anymore. They have multiple children, wives and homes and all the bills that come with owning a home to pay for. When your wages are suddenly cut in half, and the pension and retirement you were going to live off of suddenly aren’t there, what the fuck are you going to do??? Perhaps people who don’t experience these things should stay the fuck out of the argument. Because of these companies “cost cutting” my step-dad will more than likely be out of a job soon and our ENTIRE family will probably have to move out of state. My grandmother’s retirement from GM powertrain was cut in half by all of this…It’s seriously hurting MANY people.

actually if i worked there i wouldnt be on strike. i would also live within my means and not over extend myself so if something did happen i wouldnt be screwed. i’ve been through lay-offs and pay cuts and benefit cuts. and still I have never been or will ever go on strike. I have experienced these circumstances more than most people on this board so dont spew shit about ignorance. I have also took it upon myself to plan for my own retirement so i dont have to rely on a companies pension plan. I’m sorry if your family was so nieve to think a buisness would take care of them at the expense of profits and didnt plan for the worse. but yet again i’ll restate the obvious. its all relative, there are many people throughout the world that would gladly do the same job for much less. everyone is expendible. if these people would just agree to some cuts they would be much better off than not having a job at all dont you think? but i guess hindsight is 20/20. either way…this scab has a job.

D3X-

If you’re referring to me,if you look at my previous posts I usually am against the union. They usually do nothing but protect lazy, trash workers. And if you worked there, yes you would be on strike. If they vote strike you just can’t go in there and work.My point is that these ppl, whether you like them or think they are lazy are just trying to keep a decent job that they earned by working hard(again not all but most) for the last XXX years. While mr Multimillionaire in Detroit or wherever says, now you make 13 an hr deal w/ it.
Living off means and then taking a HUGE put cut plus no bene’s are 2 different things.
