UAW strike at GM!

GM should use this time to move the plants to “right to work” states… Correct the mistakes of decades of agreeing to pay these fools to keep working… $200 a week for being on strike ain’t going to pay the bills and the Union bosses are still getting their regular wages during this time I’ll bet (which is much higher than most of the workers).

but the union not GM pays out during a strike, so what’s your point? and of course GM is still going to pay its non-union emplyee’s…

Unions will kill this country.

damn

i look at the union and GM like major league baseball, both sides are so greedy that they will ruin the whole damn thing…which they already have since toyota is #1.

Go back to work

Seriously, they should be lucky they still have GM plants in America.

amen

the unions had their place back in the steel mill days. Those days are gone.

Exactly.

The negatives of the unions have already outweighed the positives.

I think I might join a union. What’s better than just standing around bitching all day making crappy products and getting paid an outrageous salary with massive health benefits??

It’s an American’s wet dream.

cwa local 13000 ftw . unions dont destroy anything, they keep the middle class working man/women from working there way into poverty. the problem is the people they elect to run the unions. too many people dont pay attention or dont care who is running for the positions. if the company i work for was non union i would make 14$ an hour , no bennies, health care, and no retirement. and my wife would have to go to work just to pay for day care for my kids. and the company would just keep making obsurd profits, shipping all the jobs overseas and outsourcing everything. and as for the quality , if u have no pride in the job u do or the service you provide then its not a matter union or non union.

yet the solution would be for you to find a job that pays the bills… like the rest of us…

unions do not reduce off-shore outsourcing… in the end they inflate prices of the American companies that use them…

negative. unions basically keep the company in check with the amount of profit they make to fair wages for the employees. look at walmart, a multi billion dollar business. they are non-union which allows them to pay their employees basically nothing and make huge profits every year. if they did go union walmart would blame that for having to up their prices, but the real reason would be because their profit margin at the end of the year is less because they have to pay their employees fair wages.

thats why there is “inflation”

actually not negative… forcing union work is really what drives up spending and limits profit… naturally each and every union is ‘different’ because of it’s size and objection to companies.

sometimes unions provide positive roles to representing laborers and lowering expenses of hiring those laborers… other times they effect business negatively… this typically comes with size and ‘say’ of a union.

when a labor union grows to a massive size so that the employer or government cannot control it, they can then use their ‘right’ to go on strike as a threat (hence this thread)… typically wtih this they make their share far larger than the appropriate level of productivity (remember 2004 or 05 Pittsburgh parking authority strike  )… with those demands the company’s competitiveness dies off and teh ability to fill new jobs is stopped…

Why can’t these people just go out and get real jobs that will pay the bills? Maybe they shouldn’t be making like 20 or 30 bucks an hour to make cars. If their work is worth 10 dollars an hour, they should make 10 dollars an hour.

$200 a week I believe the amount they get while on strike, even if the strike fund is close to $1 Billion Dollars. Nice to be a mafia…errr union boss…

lol @ the union hate.

I support anything that puts a check on corporate America. As previously stated by someone else in this thread, look at Wal-Mart. The corporations have too much power, there has to be a way for the people to stand up against them. Lord knows the government isn’t going to do it.
