Got the OBDII codes but not sure what to look for?

I pulled these codes form a buddys 2003 durango with the 5.9 but i have no clue what it could be,anyone?

P0440 EVAP Control System Malf
P0441B EVAP Control Bad Purge Flow

Try replacing the gas cap?

Check the purge solinoid and vent.

yes,it has been running with the light on for awhile now,he said it went off b4 for a day but back on
no signs of anyhting wrong

is the truck runing while he is getting GAS?is so thats kick e-vap codes

ahhhhhhhhhh i understand what u are saying now,not sure. Wwe have his durango till he gets back form FT.Dix in a few weeks,i will ask him if he does that when he gets gas

I’d start by following the evap lines and looking for leaks or kinks. If it was the solenoid, it should be a different code… but you never know. If you had a scan tool, you could activate the solenoid and see if it relieves pressure.

a P0440 means there is an evap leak… .loose gas cap, leaking line, ect… this is not a visiable leak, its more of a vapor leak. Now also has a P0441 for purge valve flow, i would be looking to see if your purge valve is opening and closing.
the purge valve should be up on or near the the engine. a vent valve will be more near the gas tank. hope this helps.
