after my previous posts here, i went to the res for smokes. went to 3 stores, and no one carries any marbs or phillip morris smokes anymore. I asked why they didnt have them anymore, and the guy just looked at me, so its obviously a touchy subject.
they had like 5 cartons left of camels, a ton of newports, and the rest were all indian smokes. i bought a carton of camels that i hate in an attempt to quit smoking.
today is day 4 of being smoke-free. it sucks, and i havent slept in 2 days, but my body already feels better!:eekdance:
It’s mind blowing that we built the thruway through their land without the foresight to see this being a problem. As a state/country it seems we never fully think things through.
thanks man! it sucks, but after over 10 years of having no self control to actually quit, it’s time to make a significant life change
that commercial with the lady having the air blockage, and they shove that thing down her throat really made me sick. i seen that saturday night, and got up to go have a smoke. took 2 drags and almost puked thinking about it, lol. that was my last puff.
i quit about 2 years ago cold turkey after smoking a pack a day. man am i happy as a mother fucker.
my dads mom passed away when he was 17 from cancer and my dads father just passed away a little over a year ago. so i quit at the right time for my grandpa and well my dad, you can only guess how he feels about smoking.
No its not. I am not a smoker, family is all non-smokers. This idea that a legal product, bought by consenting adults can be taxed to death, with the shoddy excuse that its because of its ill health effects is fuckin BS. If its really that bad, make it illegal. But they won’t, cause it has nothing to do about the health effects, its about MONEY and NYS wanting more.
This stuff opens the door to other BS taxes, just wait. A nice dinner out with have so many “taxes” for fat, sugar and salt content that no one can afford it. I know, thats silly. Keep thinking that.
:picard:
So you don’t buy cigarettes, no one in your family buys cigarettes, but you enjoy having to pay more money because smokers practice tax evasion by buying on the res.
Got ya.
What I don’t want is a free for all taxing on all thing considered “bad”. Who decides what is bad. Are burgers bad cause they make you fat, are french fries bad cause they cause high blood pressure.
Its your fucked up ideas that we should pay for everyones healthcare that cause me to pay for them.
If we had personal responsibility in this country, so that those that decide to smoke, PAY for that choice, we wouldn’t have the issue of who pays for it. The idiot that smokes would.
But many here believe that we should reward smokers, heavy drinkers and heavy eaters by paying for their healthcare. WHY? WHY do I, a person that is healthy, doesn’t over eat, drink or smoke, have to pay for the fatty over there~~~~~> WHY?
If we all were made to deal with the ramifications of our choices, then we might make some better decisions in life. But we live in a nanny state, were they punish you for what you do that the don’t like, but won’t make it illegal, because there is far too much money to be made off of it. Then they tell you its not your fault, and pay for all the medical providers to fix what cannot be repaired, and pay you to sit at home cause of your “health problems”
you’re not backwards, you’re ignorant. Here’s a rhetorical question for you: What happens to a society if we simply remove all safety nets covering thing like welfare and health?
