Hello everybody, My name is Alex and I am contacting you from the Grand Prix Association of Toronto, a division of Champ Car. If you haven’t heard the news, Champ Car (The Race Series) has officially purchased the Molson Indy and is completely revamping the entire event with a monstrous tuner oriented focus. I would like to officially invite the southern Ontario Nissan 240sx club to join the event if you arent already.
I’m Deb, another coordinator for GTP Auto Expo, and I’m just helping Alex out with the car clubs.
We are actually inviting the 240SX’s to go for “Biggest Car Club” in the car show. There are many other clubs participating already and we think you guys would have a good shot. The prize will be $2000CAN.
We are offering a special early bird fee of $45 to register your car, which comes with two 3-day passes for the whole show and a goodie bag. This fee will only be accepted if you have 10 or more cars to submit. Also, cars must meet minimum requirements and be of show quality.
If anyone has any questions or concerns about the show, or registering your car, please feel free and post on this thread and we will try to respond as soon as we can
The bare minimum requirements your car would have to meet are exterior modifications (ie. body/lip kits, rims, etc.,) and mild performance upgrades. Of course, the more mods the better
In any case, every car must be pre-approved. So if you are unsure how suitable your car is, please feel free to e-mail Alex at alexd@gptautoexpo.com with the following information:
Name
Phone Number
E-mail Address
Car make/model
List of modifications
Minimum 2 pictures of your car
If you have any other questions, please don’t hesistate to ask
Security is of upmost importance to us. Take into account, that besides the hundreds of modified vehicles and exhibitor booths we do have race teams from across the world with tens of millions of dollars in race vehicles, trailers and equipment. They are sharing indoor spacing within the National Trade Centre including the security, so you can rest assured that every measure has and will be taken to have a safe and fun weekend.
There should be no risk. We have top notch security monitoring all areas at all times. As well as a over night presence watching over the area. The previous year we had no problems with security at the show and this year we have even more security.
Reading through these posts some very valid points are made;
For $45 you get;
-your car in a show for 3 days, and no car for personnal transportation,
-your ride has to pay reg. addmission?
-tickets to the show but not the INDY(?)
-unknown sercurity presence (private or off-duty police?)
-goodie bag- (t-shirt, lanyard, key chain?)
hmmm, tough sell, not having to leave my vehicle for 3 days would make the decision easier, my vehicle=my job
Let me address all the concerns that you seem to be having:
-your car in a show for 3 days, and no car for personnal transportation,
All indoor car shows that span the course of a weekend require entrants to leave their car for the entire length of the show. Unlike some other shows that have taken place in the past few years in Toronto, you are not being placed in some random field or parking lot where in and out access is so easily available. This is an 180,000 spectator event in the heart of downtown Toronto where streets are blocked specifically for this race, with over 1100 accredited media worldwide as well.
-your ride has to pay reg. addmission?
If you note my previous post, each competitor gets two (2) 3-day passes to the whole event, that have a retail value of $100. These are Molson Grand Prix tickets where have access to all the shows and entertainment. You can see everything from the Champ Car races to the drifting show to the car show, etc. With the extra pass, your ride can enjoy the entire weekend with you.
-tickets to the show but not the INDY(?)
Note my above response…
-unknown sercurity presence (private or off-duty police?)
Note my previous post. If Paul Tracy and his multi-million dollar race car and trailer feel comfortable parking their equipment alongside your S14 with the hundreds of security guards (private AND off-duty) on site, there shouldn’t be anything to be worried about. Rest assured, I don’t think there is any PLACE, much less any EVENT in Toronto where you could feel more secure.
$45.00 is the special early bird pricing for registrations of car clubs with 10+ members, only until May 22nd. With this, you are already receiving over $100 in just Molson Grand Prix tickets alone with access to things like drifting on race track, real racing, live music, bikini/lingerie shows, and tons more. Looking at the other automotive events here in Ontario, that is simply an unheard in value, and of this stature.
Many other car clubs are jumping on board and we would love the 240’s to come and represent too.
I hope this has helped, and let me know if you guys have any other questions.

thanks, Your response was prompt and concise.
the Actually Grand Prix cars/trailers etc, are protected by a guard company selected by the event co-ordinators, or are they allowed to provide the security company of their choice?
I was curious, as I have had quite a bit of experience as/with (large)private security companies.
