Grounding issue or something?

Hey guys,

When I start my car, it runs really lean and shitty. Like it will barely hold idle. This is only until I rev the motor. At this point, all the lights on the dash go brighter and the car starts idling fine. Also, when the car first starts, the battery voltage is steady at 11.8. After I rev the car and the dash lights are bright, the voltage is a steady 13.8. Anyone know what is wrong?

Something might be shorting out your battery my HID’s did that too me… I’am pretty sure reving would’nt make your voltage rise if you had a ground problem…

any belt squeaking noise?

sounds like a slipping alternator belt

get your battery tested properly and check your belts like Mike said.

Got the battery tested and it’s fine. Also the belts are d
fine.

We did a little bit more testing. When I first start the car and it’s running shitty, the voltage is dropping slowly and the timing is jumping around like crazy. This even happens when another car is boosting mine.

The timing and voltage is fine when the engine is revved once. We even tried grounding the battery and engine block with more wires.

Take it SR?

Cold start signal wire hooked up? Mine runs like a BAG when it’s quite cold out on start up. Clears up within 110fahrenheit.

check it out.

That wire should be hooked up. The only ones that are disconnected are the ac and powersteering wires.

I don’t think it has to do with the cold start though because the car does the same thing if you shut off the car when its warm and restart it.
