Read some places that gsr cam shafts are good for turbo…is this true?
How big of injectors will I need for turbo?
What kind of ECU work am I gonna need?
Suggestions on pistons/rods for turbo setup?
gsr cams wont work the the LS head
Fuel injector size depends mostly on horsepower goals and turbo size
I would go for Hondata if your looking for a reliable and rather affordable system
As for pistons and rods people are having great experiences with Eagle rods and Im kinda bais towards CP pistons
anything up to like 280 whp 390s will work fine, i ran dsm 390’s for a while
whats your power goal?
looking to try to break the 400 mark…would be fun! Try to go all out with it once I figure out exactly what im going to do. Ive owned three hatches since Ive been able to drive and finally found the right one, trying to go big with this one, something nice to drive.
your probably going to need a sleeved block if u want it to last…im not talking from what i heard either…
Not to be a dick but the 400 mark is much much much money away from your setup man. Its not that bad to hit 250-300 on a budget and have fun. I hit 300whp years ago on my bone stock b20 setup and maybe 2000 dollars in a brand new pieced turbo kit. Ran real good and not too much back then could hang with it.
Just get a stock LS motor and a nice turbo kit and actually get it tuned and it will make 300whp or so and have fun with it. Also that way if it does blow up LS motors are cheap ass hell so who cares.
Word.
So its gonna take alot of money and a pretty much everything done motor to hit the 400 mark? So if I dont hit the 400 mark how far to I have to go to hang with V8’s? Pretty much looking to hit atleast 12s, 11s would make my day tho…
12’s is easy on an ls motor, 11’s easy on slicks as for the v8 comment…well…i took down gotsvt at flashlight drags last year by a tiny bit, he is was making big power then (500whp?) (more now i beileive), ls turbo is a good starter turbo motor i guess, dont worry about the stupid mods such as fuel rail, intake mani and so on
260whp-300whp in a light honda will kill most v8’s
400whp on stock sleeves will be ok for awhile.
if that is the goal down the road get 1000cc injectors and be done with it.
I like eagles with CP pistons too
go hondata or crome for managment.
most of all by tried and true parts not some ebay special
Exactly what Joe said. You don’t need a ton of power to run a 12 or beat some V8s. You don’t need the extra bolt ons either. Just put together a solid setup as far as fuel, management, etc.
Been talkin to fmfkid about building a ls bottom end for a turbo set, sleeve it etc…then eventually down the using my B16 head for ls/vtec turbo set up? any comments?
