what head to use?

my bottem end is pretty much assembled, i am debating on witch head to use, either an ls head, or gsr head? hmm a fully ported ls head doesent flow as good as an ls head, any input before i make a decide? i have em both so it doesent really matter

also turbo cams for an ls are cheap as fuck

what did u do to the bottom end?

foreged pistons/rods

im guess your going to turbo it, seeing how ur looking at turbo cams! i’d go gsr, or b16 head…

vtec head on non-vtec block=bad idea

hmm, i hear mixed reviews

i have a b16 head on an ls block and its fine except for some vtec problems but thats it…

depends on your compression. making it an LS VTEC will probably bump your compression a little high for that 60-1. Id stick with the LS head unless you are going for a serious race motor and wanna build a super bullet proof LS VTEC. What comp. pistons did you put in? I personnaly dont think LS VTEC and a turbo go together unless its a super high hp goal.

VTEC SUCKS!!

stick with the LS, port the living god out of it, go turbo cams, tune the nos timer and you’ll go 9’s

they are like 8.3:1 weisco pistons, i am on stock sleeves and i would like to make some high numbers, im going to decide by the end of the week and hopefully get something together

LS head…parts are cheaper and vtAk is overrated especially if you’re turboing it

and i’ve heard about lots of problems when people do LS/VTEC

Go down to HD and talk to Dennis, he has a fully built LS head for a good price that will make some serious power, or just stick with your head and get the approiate cams. At that compression an LS/VTEC would be a waste in my opinion.

Sleeved 2.0 > LS/VTAK

Rr>u

i decided on a gsr head, i have one sitting at my shop ready to go,
the main reason i decided to go with a gsr head is

  1. every one told me not to
  2. i want to paint something cool on valve cover
  3. reving shit is cool

rod ratio on the LS sucks for reving it high. with those stock sleeve you are goin to crack one with harmonics for sure dude.

also lack of oil squrters isn’t good on “reving shit”

reven to like 8000 not 11,000

ive heard of 550whp on stock sleeves, thats way above my goal

I have seen 628whp on stock sleeves but that is beside the point. they are on true vtec b series motors not LS vtecs with piston speeds that are insane

89mm stroke > 87.2mm stroke

ls vtec in hatch > sleeved b20 in a teg

Get a GSR water pump at least then if you wanna rev it that far. what “big numbers” are you looking for? Remember that the GSR is the least flowing VTEC head, so if flow is that important then you might wanna take that into consideration.
