Guess the mileage at my new Volt's first fill up and win a tank of gas!!

Ok NYSPEED Extreme Team… who wants free gas? Not the post Louie’s Slim dogs gas, actual gasoline. Like us on Facebook and guess how many miles I will drive before I have to fill up the Volt. Closest to the miles wins a free tank of gas! I will post pictures of my trip odometer on a regular basis so you can see the progress. 25.2 miles so far.

My buddy just got one of these, he just passed 2000 miles on its original tank from the dealer.

Are you charging it once the battery dies?
Or drain the battery then let the motor kick in?

^ From what I’ve seen in the other thread he’s charging it every chance he gets (including a charger at work) and his commute is less than the Volt’s battery only range.

So it could be a loooong time before he needs gas, though I do think I read something about the Volt having some “feature” that runs the gas engine once and a while just to make sure the gas isn’t going stale.

This is crazy as hell

Yes…

…and yes

Crazy like a fox. Dave’s going to get a bunch of traffic to their FB page and exposure for the dealership, all for the cost of a single tank of gas. Use of social media at it’s finest.

^This is why I like Jay. 1118 views in 2 hours for free… so far.

You could probably continuously run this until the end of the lease, and still come out ahead of your regular advertising ventures (commercials, news ads, etc…)

since there appears to be no end to the contest, I think I’ll wait until you post pictures of the fuel gauge almost empty before voting.

This might actually be a good thing. By the time this contest is over, gas might be $15 a gallon and a tank nearing $200.
HAHA

Price is right rules?

Did you make sure the dealership topped it off before you left? Sometimes they screw you on that…

funny guy you are

I remember hearing stories about GM providing te dealers $30 to fill the tank and some dealers only putting that into it

Edit: Probably outdated article and maybe the “new” GM has a different policy

I don’t know the exact amount but they pay us a fixed price to do the final PDI “Pre-delivery Inspection” when it arrives here and that amount includes the tank of gas. It usually works in the dealers favor on average because they pay based on average fuel price per gallon. If anyone buys a brand new car and doesn’t get a full tank then they need to say something when they are there picking it up. On pre-owned cars dealers do whatever they want… some fill them up (we do) and some don’t.

125 miles down and still not a drop of gasoline used!

Might want to try pitching it to the local news. It’s just interesting enough with an environmental angle that it might make the cut for a fluff story on a slow news day. Gas and oil are on their way back up and the news talks about that all the time so their lead in story is already there.

I really need to start pushing harder to get the old school sales/owners here to let me do some social media for this place. Instead they still block FB/Twitter.

My guess will depend on confirmation that you’re tracking it at our summer meet on the 26th
