The battery has got to be the killer on costs. Maybe Obama will give out free batteries in his next term. Of course gas will be $10.00/gallon too which will change the roi.
The math works, but I was thinking he could improve on those estimates.
Well, I crossed 1200 miles on only 2.0 gallons and I have been driving it for more than a month. We shall see how far I can go.
Ray?
Yeah.

Well, I’m at 1270 miles and still have only used 2 gallons. I am betting on somewhere between 3-4k. Cold weather uses a ton more energy because the heater runs off the batteries and there is a warmer to keep the batteries from getting too cold… just a hint though.
Drove the crap out of it yesterday… 1400ish miles and 2.5 gallons used.

Over 2000 miles and getting closer. Cold temps use a ton of battery so I have been using gas more often.
update???
We finished a while ago, I totally forgot to update here. The person who won is named “Roland Around” lol.
So what was the final MPG and miles per tank?
Well I ended a full tank at 27xx miles and used 7.8 gallons for an mpg of 346. The winner was within 10 miles if I remember correctly.
EDIT: I’m a little annoyed I didn’t go further. I had days where I would end up driving 50-100 miles and would use a whole gallon and that’s what killed me. If I just used this as a commuter I would probably not have used a 1/2 tank yet. The gas engine kicks on every once in a while when I’m driving for about 5 minutes just so it runs. For opening day of deer season I went from Amherst to Lancaster to East Otto to Ellicottville, back to East Otto to Lancaster and then ended up in Amherst… barely used more than 2 gallons of gas.
Very cool
