Guess you DO need that HUGE STI rear wing after all

Wasn’t going 148mph at the time of impact, also had his own uprights fabricated which put the wing up into clean air where it wasn’t designed to go, which is why it failed. It was a modified (home brew) APR setup, not stock.

His shuffle steering driving style also looks like shit.

saw this a while ago, guy walked away fine. the car was gorgeous too. nothing was stock tho so its kind of irrelevant

I think he sits too far too
this should have something to do with the driver not the wing

yeah, he’s not fat enough either.

Sitting so far back makes him use the bigger muscles in his arms and shoulders, not ideal if you do endurance racing. Also might be why he “saws” so much with his shuffle steering technique (which is a fine technique if you are smooth).

yikes

I shuffle when I drift, and don’t when I drive regular track days. I can honestly say my reaction times for amounts of over and understeer when concentrating on fast laps is dogshit when shuffle steering, you don’t have as direct of a feel with the car when you’re constantly moving your hands around on the wheel. It makes sense why a large portion of people preach against it.

Only part of your “feel” comes from your hands/arms. A lot comes from your ass too. I’d say it’s about 50/50 who shuffle and who don’t when it comes from racers whose opinion I care about.

Yeah his position and style are definately in question but that would be a tough one to save. Good HANS ad though. lol
