Tell that to the founders of this country.
One more thing about gun control… The cops need to get some. I am really tired of watching these “Scariest Police Videos” shows where the cops unload an entire clip at a suspect from 30 feet and never once hit him.
Thats a very good point… like I was saying about the L.A. shoot out, look at how many rounds were fired vs. the amount of deaths… then compare it to the beltway sniper… killed alot of people and only needed 1 bullet a piece to do it
i think that before gun laws are adjusted at all, that the autorities need to find a way to crack down on illegally owned guns.
i think we can all agree that ppl who murder, most likely do not have a permit and the gun is stolen.
So its not that we need tighter restrictions to stop murder with guns. Its that we need to have some sort of crack down on illegal/un-registered guns.
its like everything else the govt controls.
they have to gear it towards the lowest common denominator.
the average american is not that inteligent.
i’m prolly average, and my grammer is awful
it only takes a few loud idiots to ruin things.
there can be no simple solution for gun violence.
it is very difficult to change people.
ex. cross your arms… then switch them up, right over left/left over right…
people hate change, and on top of that you will be telling them they cant have or do something.
I’m all for it.
could have been
well, you should have the right to protect yourself from a corupt government. Giving them complete power is absurd. Then again, an automatic weapon against 10 federal agents wont do you any good anyway  Let the men have their rifles and handguns. again, I’m not a fan of automatics.
OK. All i have to add to this thread is the following:
To all you people using or spinning off of this joke:
“gun control is a steady hand”
It’s not funny. We’ve all seen the bumper sticker, and even when we saw it for the first time, we may have cracked a smile at best.
However a bumper sticker that said:
“gun control is pistol whipping the russian”
would rule.
I don’t have the patience to read the whole thread, so if someone already said this, I apologize:
Gun Control doesn’t stop criminals from being armed.
(see GB, Australia, 1939 Germany…)
I was watching a show yesterday about non-lethal weapons and it reminded me about how fucked up our “gun control” laws are. you see i can go out and buy the rifle and ammo that our military uses to stop light armored vehicles (Barrett M82 .50 BMG), but i cant purchase non-lethal ammo like rubber bullets and beanbags. does this make any kind of sense at all? our govt doesnt want to give me a non-lethal choice if im ever in the situation where i have to defend myself?
Either way, im one of those nuts that fully supports our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms, im a member of the NRA, and i have enough guns and ammo to arm a small militia. But im not the guy you have to worry about breaking in to pilliage and plunder, rather im the one thats gunna be putting a couple rounds of copper jacketed 00 buck shot through the chest of the asshole that is.
I don’t know why I find this stuff so amusing. :biglaugh:
teehee
You speak the truth completely.
Really? I didn’t know you were buff when it comes to the founding fathers. Please explain how automatic weapons fall into the realm of what the founding fathers wanted.
If the gov’t were to get to a point where it would need to be replaced the only thing that could bring about that kind of change would be the support of a large majority of the people. No amount of automatic rifles can replace that.
Be honest the only reason why you want automatic weapons is to have fun and fire them. I think it would be fun too but my fun shouldn’t supercede the safety of others. You can defend yourself with a shotgun or a pistol, you don’t need uzi’s.
-
Automatic weapons falls into the “realm” of the founding father’s intent, because the only way you can fight a government is if you are equally armed.
-
A large amount of automatic rifles will help the large marjority of people take on the government. What you should have said was “No amount of muzzle loaders can help”.
Everyone knows the saying, “Don’t bring a knife to a gun fight.” When you are taking on a government army, consisting of trained professionals with a mechanized infantry, you need every edge you can get. That was the intent of our founding fathers - for the government to be afraid of its people, not for the people to be afraid of its governement. And you would be afraid if Bush decided that Marshal Law was the only way to seek out the terrorists. Just because we live in a society that is relatively safe from its government, doesn’t mean that we will always be that way. If we don’t learn from the past, we are doomed to repeat it.
Uhmmm… The founding fathers supported the ability to be equally armed as the government. And a majority of opposition means nothing if the government has become violent, with advanced weaponry.
Annnnd looks like the rest was already said by above.
