if you wanna spend as much as you’d drop on an AR with a shotgun :lol
If you want a fun assault style rifle, pick up an AK I’d say, it’s gonna be a decent amount cheaper to shoot than an AR15 or an AR10. 500 rounds of 7.62x39 for that AK will run ya about $125

Adam, that Siaga is illegal in NYS. it’s illegal to have a semi automatic shotgun that has a detachable mag with a pistol grip, without the pistol grip it’d be legal, but it looks like ass.

moar nice shotgunz
EXACTLY. No way in hell I would ever fire the AR in the house. A neighbor would definitely get hit. They travel too far.
Get yourself a nice stubby 12 guage you can manuver in a hallway like this
stagger the rounds, insert 1 00 buck(can go slightly lighter here 00 is kinda heavy), then 1 heavy bird, another 00, 1 heavy bird etc until shes full. don’t load the chamber. that way intruder will hear the rack of it loading, it probably won’t fase them but it’s worth a shot. if you do have to fire, back to back shots and one will scatter a bit, the next will make a hole. either way they won’t ever look or walk the same again if they survive.
Here’s my backup just in case.
slightly shorter than the 870 with the stock folded out, but only carries 2 rounds.
I love that double barrel Wayne!
Wow there is a LOT of misinformation in here… Not meaning to offend anyone, but lets get real folks, how many of you have actually trained with any of your firearms?
Specifically, using 5.56 for home defense and claiming it’ll go into a neighbors house? That is a complete misnomer. If you choose the correct configuration, a 5.56 round is in hydrostatic over 2850FPS and will tumble and disintegrate when hitting an object. If it falls below 2850, that is when you have to be careful of over penetration. Ammo choice, and barrel choice are HUGE factors.
I have had extensive training with both AR-15’s and shotguns, but I still think I’d rather grab my AR for a home invasion and leave my shotgun for my wife to grab if need be.
For home defense, I would recommend two things: A purpose-built AR-15, and a autoloader shotgun. More specifically, I’d recommend an AR in 5.56 w/ Rails, Flip Iron sights, Aimpoint H-1Micro optic, rail-mounted flashlight, angled foregrip. For the shotgun I’d recommend a Mossberg 930SPX, pretty much as is. Load it as follows: Bean Bag Round in chamber, 00/000 Buck, Slug, Buck, Slug, etc. The 930SPX is 7+1.
Plan on spending about $600 on the SPX, and about $1400-1500 on a properly built AR-15.
a slug for home defense??? really?
this will be my next purchase so i can retire the coach to clay only.
Absolutely. Maybe not necessary for all situations… a better set up might be only in the last 1 or 2 rounds.
in an urban situation i would pass on the slug. With kids and a family i’m surprised you consider it.
let me ask you a question here:
i believe 00 or #1 buck is considered a defense round is it not?
slug is considered a hunting round?
wondering the outcome of a trial in which the homeowner is brought up on charges. Which would you rather have in your gun?
I’m just asking, I’m sure you know more on the subject than I do, and I’ve often wondered about this.
Have a half drunken Sarge sit outside your house all night, that’s enough to scare most anyone away.
Oh wow I love it :excited
Yeah I hear ya man. The reason I mentioned slug was that in one of the classes I’ve taken that is what they recommended, but then again it was a class geared towards more tactical use of the shotgun, and I was taking it with several LEO and SWAT. It’s quite possible that I misinterpreted that. I know slugs are great for going through glass.
You bring up a great point though with me having kids and a family. That is also why I would choose the AR over a shotgun, due to my accuracy with it, and less of a chance of buckshot or birdshot going where it is not intended to.
These discussions are always great but in the end, there is not perfect answer, no perfect situation. You have to look at your home environment, your family situation, and your training. Money spent on training with firearms is much more important than money spent on firearms mods.
As far as the slug vs buckshot in trial… with the unfortunate situation that we’re all in NY… It’s hard to say how they would portray that. However, as the old adage goes… It’s better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.
couldn’t agree more man.
how do the AR rounds NOT go through someones face? I’m having trouble with that. What ammo are you running in it?
brew collects blow jobs.
AR-15 plus beowulf 50 cal conversion.
oh yea, thats super easy to manuever inside a hallway. the average male could easily and effectively operate 2 of those at the same time in a HD situation. Good call. :retardclap
Fuck guns, I’ll just wire my house with explosives.
pretty sure a drum like that would be illegal, maybe im wrong though
I have trained with both and I would take shotgun over ar any day. Ar is nice but a nice 12ga is a must for home defense. Most gun fights are within 21 feet and that close I’m going to want a 12ga or a .40 plus caliber pistol, not an ar.
Personally I have a mossberg 500 tactical for home defense. Holds 8 and 1 in chamber.
Bunch of pansies in this thread. Who gives a fuck if it’s illegal. When you shoot the ****** you don’t tell anyone, just bury him out back.
