Gun guys step inside. Sub-compact/compact thoughts inside.

I own a Springfield XD40 which I purchased when I got my permit. Won my local shooting clubs pistol league against guys shooting match .22’s. Pretty impressed with the accuracy and never once had a feed jam. Will be my choice when carry permit comes through. I think the size is fine for me but not the smallest. I know Sprinfield makes the XD in subcompact models. My .40 brand new a few years ago was under $ 500.00 if memory serves. Think it’s a good product for the money.

How many people carry with them everyday? keep a gun in their car? etc…

just wondering.

XDM40 purchased.

Pics to follow when it arrives

That’s my carry weapon (subcompact). Did you go with a compact/subcompact? I love mine.

Let me know what you think.[COLOR=“Silver”]

arrived yesterday… sucks I wont be able to shoot it for a while. But i swapped out to the smaller backstraps for my petite hands, and it feels great.

Its the XDM40 4.5 barrel.

Any recommendations for cheap ammo? the closest range mandates that I buy their ammo… annoyed.

I’ve always shot winchester target ammo (along with about 4-5 other brands of varied quality but I use the winchester the most) through my XD9 and never had a hiccup

I shot 50 rounds of “independence?” through it today… very similar to the winchester ammo i’ve been throwing in my keltec… No jams, no problems, (other than my horrible ability to shoot)

My kel-tec on the other hand, jammed with the hollow points I tried to shoot thought it too. (only jammed on the 2nd shot, which cleared with a re-rack, and then shot flawlessly with the next 10 rounds)

It’s gonna suck if it jams the 1 in 100000000000000000 chance that I ever want to use it. Bottom line, make the first shot count.

That’s why you always make sure to test your self defense ammo and see how the gun reacts. I have shot around 1500 rounds through my XD of all different kinds of ammo and the previous owner had about 2000 rounds through it. The gun has never once jammed or didn’t feed a round.

XDs are awesome pieces.

How about a M1911, it puts a .45 acp downrange very nicely =) there are quite a number variants that may suit your eye!!
If you see one at the range, give it a whirl

Picked this up today:

H&K USP Compact, chambered in .357 SIG. Apparently, pretty rare. I guess you had to special order the USP in .357SIG. Pretty neat little pistol. Unlike my H&K P30S V3 (.40S&W), no ambidexrious safety or slide release. Ambidexrious mag release though.

Nice pickup. Love h and k

I’ll tell ya what. I fucking LOVE my P30S V3. I haven’t fired this USP yet, but I’ll tell ya, I’ve done alot of shooting with my P30S V3, It’s an incredible pistol.

Post pics, and specs. I’m not familiar. I’m new to the game, buying things when deals pop up or when I have spare coin. An ar is next on the docket I think.

Love it! The .357 sig is such a cool round too! I’m a huge fan of the .357 mag so of course I love the Sig and 10mm rounds.

I just got a case of Hornady critical defense 9mm ammo.

Also picked this up a couple months ago:

Sig Sauer Mosquito .22LR
5" barrel
Modeled after the P226

Only complaint is you HAVE to use CCI Mini-Mag .22 ammo in it. I’ve tried everything out there, this is the only brand that feeds correctly. Other brands had failure to feed/eject issues. Apparently you can do a little tinkering with it to make it fire any ammo flawlessly, but for now I’ve just been using the CCI MiniMag ammo with zero issues.

^very cool. I’m jealous of all those who have a ny carry conceal permit.

Maybe they’ll make it easier in the future… or maybe non-residents will be able to get permits … :eyeroll:
