Every firearm I’ve ever purchased has been private sale. So fuck them and their methods. I feel really shitty for everyone who might be harassed by it though.

More background on the workings of this, Office for technology (where I work) was renamed ITS (information technology services), and there is an inititive in place and working now, to combine other IT related agencies into one called the NYS ITS Cluster. This is why my agency got involved, in the past we would never work with DCJS side by side. Cuomo just promoted a new CEO of ITS, and a month back we sat in on a big all hands meeting about clustering up with all the other agencies and working on “important applications for current events facing NYS”.

For example, there’s “talk” that over 500 of the NYSP have signed a union letter stating they will not be enforcing this law. It’s going a bit on the wayside now, because no one can back the source and prove(or disprove) the statement. This type of talk can then be twisted by the bullshit media or the anti’s like they always do and unfortunately it just creates more issues for us to fight and disperse our focus
Your second post makes more sense, and shows more factual stuff but at the same time this is still in infancy stages and still has many holes in it mainly in how the hell it’ll ever be enforced logistically. Don’t take my comment to heart buddy. It’s in my best interest to sort the good from the bad on these topics just due to business, let alone the aspects that every other american should be concerned with.

AHHHHH Good catch! So a “firearm” used in the laws mentioned (including the disposal of / selling of) is an illegal weapon. In other words I can have 1000 18.5" barrel shotguns and can own or sell all day long. BUT if they are of illegal type/charactoristics is deemed a “firearm” by their definition by fitting into the criteria you posted, making it illegal.

NYS will make PSA’s in 2013 followed by print ads. By 2014 Letters will go out as reminders to register… and "on file"database info will be used, though they know the accuracy will be less than 75% with regards to address and if ownership still exists. A second followup letter will surely be sent and potentially a 3rd. Evidently much of this is on hold awaiting some amendments to the current safe law.
