Good mod on the 300, not as good as GD downpipes but I was not pulling the tranny yet for a clutch/flywheel replacement this year so thought this would have to do for now.
The process wasn’t bad, there is a good write-up on TT.net on how to do this while they are in the car. Its super important to follow to “oil up” steps or the ceramic dust will kill you turbo on the drivers side.
I don’t recommend trying to gutt the passenger side while in the car and its really easy to remove the manafold. You run the risk of damaging the threads for your O2 sensor going through the hole.
Overall the mod was worth the effort, cost nothing but time and some oil I saved from my last change to soak the ceramic on the drvs side before busting it up. The spool up is quicker and idling is way smoother. Throttle response seems much better also and it seems to really ‘crack’ more when stepping on it. Can’t wait to get the proper GD pipes and a better Exhaust, I found several bad bends and it looks like a minute muffler job I think the previous owner got taken or he really cheaped out!
I did also remove my AIV carbon canister at the same time and have read that this also can couse rough idle which I have been seeing for a while now along with a strong fuel smell. Since removal the smell is also gone.
