GVC BMW Club hosting 3 AutoX events @ BIMP

In the past I have done a couple WNY SCCA autocross soloII events at Batavia Int’l Motorsports park, a small shifter kart road course, it was always a blast.

This year, according to GVC BMW clubs website, they are hosting 3 Saturday events at BIMP, I am excited and will try to go to atleast one of those this season, here is the link to the GVC website.

Disclaimer: This is a bad way to participate in a fun form of motorsports with HIGH risk, still though, low entry cost.

BIMP is low risk?

No runoff room is not low risk in my mind… Seen atleast 6 cars balled up there.

True, I was thinking mostly of autocross in general and one car on the track, I guess dont runoff, anyways its going to fun

BMW is always fun to run with. Laid back and very friendly group.

That looks like a ton of fun

fuck Mike beat me to the punch. BIMP != low risk. BMW CCA is great to run with but I refuse to drive there. Crap pavement, tons of gravel / loose shit, zero runoff and from what I remember nothing to slow a car once it IS off track doesn’t make for a safe autox venue.

The ONLY thing BIMP has going for it is repeatability - in that you can compare times from one event to another, unlike any other autox around here.

lol, disclaimer added!

WRC drivers must laugh

anyone in this thread a WRC driver?

didn’t think so.

this is an event where people want to be able to DRIVE HOME their shiny DDs…

Dunnville May 23rd is going to be fun

I’ve never run with the BMW club there but I have run tons of times with WNY SCCA. Yes, people have gone off there and run into things but I’ve never seen any major damage. I’ve seen far worse damage done by the curbs at ECC-N. All I’m saying is there is risk any place you run if you’re going 10/10ths. If you dial it back a little on a couple turns Batavia can be a real fun place to run. If you’re one of those ultra competitive people who have to find every 10th of a second possible it might not be a good place for you.

Well said

one of these things is not like the other

Hey, go have fun, its not a death trap, I just don’t like the venue for AutoX. I’d LOVE to do karting there… shrug

I remember theblue taking a turn a little to quick and hitting the wall… or was it Viper966? Or both? I haven’t been there in 4+ years.

It was definitely the most fun Auto-X place IMO when I used to do it. They didn’t have Seneca Army Depot back then for WNY.

Um… I was one of the people to hit the wall. Top of the hill in my old Fiero, on a day I was safety steward and gave the speech about how if you run off at the top of the hill you will slide into the tire wall no less. :roflpicard:

But it was a $3k car and I knew the way I was pushing it going off was a possibility. There is still plenty of potential for fun there without pushing that hard on the turns with little to no runoff.

the only place i’m ever concerned about going into the wall is the bottom corner before the straight… but thats generally because im going at 11/10th’s trying to get max speed going up the hill

Not me for hitting the wall… the only time I’ve ever been in danger was at a WNY autoX when I hit VTEC at like 70 in a slalom and jumped a curb in an RSX-S.

I did spin out once in my maxima on that turn before the front streight but it was very safe… and then there was the famous one where I had brand new tire come off of my wheel while in a friendly challenge against joestypes.
