hey everyone. i was coming home tonight from the semi meet to pick up the drift knobs, and it was dark and foggy as hell. i then came to the conclusion that my night visibility sucks (eye problem) and my headlights are sucky as well (dim as hell, probably need to be replaced). anyways, what i want to know is where can i get the hella h4 headlight conversion? i can’t seem to find it. i’ve searched and this seems like the best h4 conversion, along with the bosch ones. i expected the eurolite ones to suck, and the opinions of people on the board are in agreement with this expectation. if i can’t find the hella ones, which are clear i presume, how would the bosch ones look with an hid kit? i am assuming hid looks best with a clear lens. also, how does each headlight conversion look with regular h4 bulbs? is the clear hella one better at dispersing light, or is the rough surfaced bosch one better?
i’ve also read the silverstars are amazing, but expensive at 32.99 per light at canadian tire, and supposedly have extremely short bulb life? the h4 headlight conversion and silverstar bulbs is another way to go as well…
in conclusion, i just want something that totally illuminates the ground in front of me. if someone could steer me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
i will probably end up getting fog lights sooner or later, but even the sections of road that weren’t foggy, i had trouble seeing the road clearly. the main thing i want to know is where i can get the hella h4 conversion. thanks.
hmm, well do you or does anyone know where i get them in a store? i’m not a big fan of ebay… although i think i should start ebaying soon, everything there is so good!
Well, I think I have seen the Silverstars or some other kind of H4 conversion kit at CT and Partssource. It’s like $89+ I think, but I doubt they will work that well.
hella can be had fromperformance improvments now and you DO want a lense (regardless of light emitting source ) with laser cus in it, the reason for this is light diffusion, a clear lense will not throw a bean as wide nor as clearly with a ‘clean’ lense, the penumbra in particular is very large ( fade area ) while the umbra ( hot spot ) is narrow and spotty , the laser cut lenses reshape the light to give you max bean dispersion over a wider range… with bad eyesight you really want that. Silverstars would be your best choice for cost over quality… get some good Hella or PIAA fo lights, you may pay $250 or so for them but the light they throw out is way beyond even the headlights in some cases …
Dumbass. Have you ever seen Bosch H4’s in a S13… Didn’t think so…
for $89.99 they are by far the best bang for the buck…
As for fog. Doesn’t really matter what headlights, they all suck shit in fog.
Either buy fog lights or keep crying.
yes i realize the bosch h4 conversion is top notch along with the hella one… but one little concern is the dispersion of the boschs with hids vs the diamond cut or whatever of the hellas… although hids might be overkill, and just an option. and as i said earlier, this is a problem that i’ve noticed with or without fog. im not too concerned with fog as of now because it doesn’t appear as much as night does .
anyways guys, thanks for all the answers, quick too :D. the last thing i want to ask is where this performance improvements store is located. i think i read somewhere that it is the store spilner works at, but i am oblivious to the location. thanks again .

easy with the name calling you thugged out crackhead.
I have the bosch H4 conversion and nice bulbs in it and the difference is atlease 250% brighter and wide spread than stock
there are no housings that are ment for HID’s in a s13 and your beam pattern will be shit and so will the light output.
the only way you can make a proper HID setup is by doing a projector retrofit using BMW or s2000 or audi HID projectos and placing them in the square housing.
dont waist your money on hids ina non hid housing all you will do is blind oncomming traffic and make your light output dim and all over the place.
just a bit of clarification, when I say ’ fogs’ I should have said driver beams , fog’s, wides, pencil are all different patterns that are avaialble from PIAA and in some cases CATZ and HELLA. on both my MKIII and FC ( both are H4 pop ups ) I use my 004XT ( 52mm round spot beam ) which are mounted like fogs( lower ) but use them as my night time low beams on the hwy. they throw a tighter beam further down the road… for $195 it’s a great investment…
a ‘fog’ specific light is ~ 65+ degrees wide and either a yellow Ion or striaght yellow low wattage light… not a supplement to driving like the pencil or driver ( spot) beam
