handle bars shake ? any ideas?

Hey recent thing i’ve noticed on my bike was… when i go liek 50mph or more and left off the throttle take my hands off the handle bars, i get the wobbles… not out of control but it happens bad enough to where u wanna grabd the handle bars before it gets crazy.

The front wheel is balanced, i just dont see or understand how/why the bike would do that… i havent crashed or dropped it since it started happening…

is their a flat spot on your front tire?..even a stone stuck in your tred will make the handle bars wobble…

does it have a steering dampner? I know on my quad, When I adjust my steering dampner it makes a huge difference.

Put a steering dampener on it, i don’t believe your bike came with one factory. BIG safety upgrade…

ya i’ll do that, they just are kinda fuckin expensive :stuck_out_tongue:

but anywways i’ll check my tire i was thinking same thing maybe something on it, but i wanna get a dampener just because its very safe

trust me…it made a HUGE difference on my quad…I know it would do the same on a bike…same principle.

Even more so on a bike, 1 wheel vs 2 laterally holding them together. They are expensive but you will thank yourself hen you dont have road rash from you legs to your shoulder. Without them coming down from a wheelie or generally high speeds can become dangerous very quickly.

ya no kidding sometimes when i wheelie i land with the bars SLIGHTLY turned and its like crazy scary

thats why i dont wheelie much

but what im saying is… before i did that they never shook… so im trying to figure out wtf hapepend…

Should have bought a Suzuki :tong jk man. Could be one of many things.

head shake and tank slappers are underpants ruiners, if you get into a crazy one dont fight it, it will only make it worse. Invest in a scotts dampner they are amazing, you could almost set a wheelie down completly sideways and get no head shake

hahaaa yeaaaaa

if the problem has gotten worse I would try and find the source of the wobbles rather than just get a damper. I wouldn’t want you to get a damper to cover up the wobbles, then have the problem get worse but be masked by the damper, then tragedy strike.

well thats wat im saying like, what could make the bike do that? i cant firugre it out

the problem seems like it could be either the fork, rim or tire. maybe bring it to a shop to see if they could diagnose it?

have you done anything with the bike suspension wise? maybe the fork internals got damaged from a wheelie?

the only wheelies i done were liek little first gear wheelies maybe 12 inches max at one time but everytime it was a smooth landing once i landed sligfhtly off and i got the wobbles but if that did it u gotta be joking me

i might go over to seymours and see wat they say

The bike was probably left on those tires sitting over the winter and you most likely developed a flat spot, or you locked up the rear wheel and slid on it for a while developing a flat spot on the rear.

Either will cause that same feeling ~45-50mph.

SV used to do it on old tires, changed the tires it’s fine now.

636 is doing it now, I’m sure it’s the tires (original tires that it sat on for over a year)

the rear tire as you know is brand new, and there is def no flat spots, i would be pissed as hell if there was , i never slid on it yet, i did slip a bit when racing this camaro last week but that wouldnt make a flat spot

the front tire is brand new at least it still has the hairs on it when i got it

this is really confusing me

It could either be improperly balanced (rear) or it could spend a long time on the front without being rotated, but thats if I had to guess.

Maybe you lost a wheel weight?

ya i checked the weight its secure but possibly there was two at one time but i doubt it…

i dont know, but as long as its nothing super attention important, i’ll put a new front tire next year and if it still does it , i’ll worry…

and i wanan get a dampener soon i’ll keep u guys updated

I’m looking into Dampeners too, Scotts are great, but for the 636 they require drilling into the frame which I’ll stay away from for now.

Tank slappers are very common on these bikes.

Either way, I’d say not worry about it for now, since unless you have had a serious accident with the bike that either bend the frame or the forks; it has to be an issue with the wheel itself (weights) or the tires (flat spots), either one of which is easily solved.

It doesn’t bother me much at the moment but if you’re seriously concerned I would just go and get the wheels spin balanced to be sure.

i did read that if the front and rear tires arent tracking straight it can cause the front to wobble like you explained. for example if the rear tire tensioners didnt get adjusted the same on both sides when you tried to tighten the chain. they say even though you follow the marks on the swingarm it can still be slightly off. just a thought hopefully you get it all figured out.
