Anyone know of a way to do this, without a hardware filter/block? I know that you can use anydvd HD to strip HDCP in realtime for blueray discs and shit, but what about for streaming video?
For example, netflix on a non-HDCP monitor. I’ve already tried using VGA cables with little luck
yeah, it’s really only a problem with streaming netflix. On the one monitor it displays fine, on the other one though, it just shows a black screen and a DRM error message. Like I said, you can get around it on blueray and HD-DVD by using anydvd-hd… but for whatever reason, it doesn’t work with netflix
impossible to remove HDCP in realtime... it would be pointless if you could.
well, I’m almost positive that’s what anydvd does (or somehow blocks or emulates the monitor/vid card HDCP signals at least).
There has to be a way to do it, but not sure of anything off hand. I know those DVI-Magic boxes will strip it too, but their kind of expensive and if the code they use is revolked, it will become a shitty paper-weight lol
here’s the deal - from your player/computer, you can use any output format that does not offer HDCP and avoid it (I know this sounds obvious).
component output can do up to 1080p and does not offer HDCP. so if your device has component out and does not limit it’s component out to low res to stop you getting around the HDMI then you’re golden.
hmmm, that sounds like it could work. Since my video card only has DVI/HDMI out though, will that still work since it’s converting the digital signal to analog?
edit: actually, I “think” it has an s-video out and came with an RGB adapter cable. Now that I think about it, pretty sure the monitor has this as an input as well.
