HDMI Cable..

If i were to pick up an HDMI cable and run it with my new tv, would i notice a huge differnce between the compoent?

depends on the tv.

but usually yes, hdmi does improve the quality

And what the HDMI cable is plugged into on the other end as well.

that too

i got that tv right there.

What device are you connecting to?

it says it can do 1080i but the Progressive Scan/Resolution is 720p. I dunno alot about tv’s but if you hook this up to a progressive scan dvd player i thing the best you’ll see is 720p which is fine with component.

the time warner digital cable box, the 8300 one.

i would assume it would help with the hd channels, as for the rest proly not as they wouldnt support the higher res.

For that instance it is more of a convience thing that a better quality, 1 cable= a lot easier to deal with than 5, I would not spend more than $100 on an HDMI cable for that situation. Personally I would reccomend the Audioquest HDMI-1.

You will notice a light improvement as there is less conversions performed, so instead of going Digitial->analog->digital you will stay digital from cable box to TV.

Also please tell me that you are running your cable box at 720 since that is the native on your tv, if not please kick yourself.

its running 1080i on the cable box.

It will help with the picture for high def channels…it all depends on the feed coming in. Ive got one for my 60 inch sxrd sony and the HD channels = secks

i think i might steal the one from my parents tv and do a little swap aru action.

than no you wont, you just want it because it looks good on paper

I have run my high def box to my Sony grand wega with both the component and HDMI cables. There was no difference in picture quality.

make sure you are watching high def channels… no hi def = not so good quality

if its a 1080p tv and your using the explorer 8300 then yeahh i noticed it

So… my wound up coaxial and 10’ of RCA for sound is no good?

Crazy.

The biggest problem you’ll have with PQ is the TV itself.

Some of the time warner HD programing is run in 720, and other stuff is 1080.
I reccomend a nice upscaling DVD player, that will certainly produce a nice image. It can upscale to 720 or 1080.

I have a 420 DLP projector. I had pretty much the same questions you did.
My project can process up to 1080i and 1080p.

The image quality I see using the Time Warner HD box is far supperior than standard cable and a very noticable improment over digital cable.

A tried two upscaling DVD players and the RCA from Walmart was garbage. I picked up a sony at CC and it works freaking great.

Here is a good place to learn about more local programming and other HD stuff.
