HDMI Problems?

i do not see anywhere on that chart 720? and i am almost positive it is a 1080? i give up. installer is coming. if he can’t fix it, then im a picky bitch that can’t get what he wants.

Of course you see a difference between 780 anything and 1080p, its 1280x720 vs 1920x1080. That’s another 700 and something horizontal pixels, and another 300 and something vertical pixels.

1080i and 1080p is hard to distinguish below 50" is what I believe he was saying.

yes, thats what i was saying, sorry if i wasn’t too clear on that. under 50", you might as well just get a 720p set, because putting 1080 lines on a small screen wont make it much clearer, if at all, thus making it all about the size

I had to set my little brothers (15) xbox to 720p for my dad’s 32" sony… I expect that this is your problem and you haven’t properly applied the settings by changing the video connector to HD !!!

Also, all games do or do not support 720p or 1080p, check the back of your game to see what it supports.
Edit: games at least support 720p…

Last years models and newer will take a 1080p input and down convert to what it can display.

It’s said that between 37-40" is where people can or can’t distinguish between 720p and 1080p.

i’m on hdmi cables. so that switch is no longer there.
i went and bought the “xbox360” hdmi cable and i did not notice a difference between it and my 20 dollar cables (i was told the xbox one is designed yadda yadda) whatever i needed another cable anyways for my blu ray.

so i switched the cables. screwing around with my blu-ray…honest to god it looks way better on 1080i…i tried 720p after it was pre-set to like 3 or 4 hundred something. i was told last night by a very good friend that 1080i is wayyyyyyyy better then 1080p? because 1080p is pixels and 1080i is someting else?

i dunno. im satisfied with what i got right now. i’ll be trying to fix it again in a few weeks probably.

just to me. at the moment i do not think it’s worth all the extra money for blu-ray.

Yes, I’m using HDMI from the xbox to the TV and I had to switch to HDTV before it looked better.

" was told last night by a very good friend that 1080i is wayyyyyyyy better then 1080p? because 1080p is pixels and 1080i is someting else?"

that guy’s an idiot. that is patently false information.

the “i” in 1080i stands for interlaced, which means every other line is drawn in alternating sequence (eg, the first field is all even lines, the second field is all odd lines, and your mind combines the two fields into one image)

the “p” stands for progressive scan and it means every line is drawn.

1080p is the highest consumer display standard available and, if you have the proper setup, it looks incredible - noticeably better than 720p or 1080i

and re: blu ray

of course it’s not worth if to you right now, because you don’t have a display that is capable of showing blu ray’s true resolution.

it’s like putting a GT30 on a KA but keeping the stock exhaust

I buy my HDMI cables from www.monoprice.com
$5 HDMI cables are just as good as $150 ones.

Let me qualify that, a quality $5 cable is just as good as a $150 one.
There are ‘highspeed’ rated cables vs. the regular ones…

The ‘highspeed’ isn’t really neccessary though unless you’ve got a computer monitor with a crazy high rez… the cable is rated for up to 1600p but there are no movies or TVs that support that high a rez yet.

The high speed is called ‘Category 2’, companies are not allowed to just make up those numbers so if you buy a Category 2 cable and it’s $6 then it’s just as good as a category 2 cable that is $150.00…

I bought 10 of them… they worked out to $8.70ea after shipping and exchange.

They work perfect and I gave 1/2 of them away as gifts.

yea, i found a local source selling them for $6.99, picture looks EXACTLY the same as my Monster HDMI cable, for about 1/10th the price.

ya, if you look at the data transfer numbers of the “high end” cables they make no sence. I dont know any source sending 10G per second. that would drain a BlueRa disk in 8sec. GAY

as for audio if you have an older receiver see if there is a multi channel imput setup on the rear. if ther is you can get a BR player that has 5.1 or 7.1 decoded descret signal output that can be hooked to the receiver. Then the reeier will only act as a ower amp and all other prossessing will only be done in the player its self. personally I just get my wire from work
