HDTV Advice

Ok so I want to get and HDTV. Don’t know much about them and know lot of guys on here are knowledgeable about them.

Looking for a 27-32" for a game room type setup in the house.

What type of technology should I be looking to get, what brands should I be looking for, and what prices should I be looking for?

Also, what are your opinions on buying refurbs?

whats your budget?

I’d like to keep it around $500, $600 top

ur options are pretty limited to barely 32"

To be honest, at your price range, your not going to find a huge difference between the different models, everything is fairly basic.

Best Buy has some good deals right now in ur range tho.

I disagree.

Just punch in vizio lcd into froogle, you can get at least a 37 inch vizio, and probably a bigger different brand.

Fuck paying nys tax, and getting reamed at best buy.

ROFFLECOPTER at Vizio

THE ROAD WARRIOR
Blu-ray and HD DVD “The clear loser,” said one tester, and no one blamed the movie’s slightly grainy print (it came out in 1981). All three testers found the Vizio to be dark and noisy.

FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS
Blu-ray and HD DVD The knocks kept coming, with everyone complaining about details getting lost in shadows, and one tester adding simply, “Yuck!”

FULL AUTO 2
Blu-ray for PS3 Another sound thrashing, due to the dark image, poor contrast and jagged lines. One tester put it plainly: “I don’t like this TV.”

And that was on Vizio’s high end 1080p TV. Their low end one probably gives you eye cancer.

I’d rather pay a guy to draw TV shows on a 37" paper than watch them on a Vizio.

eh…

I DID buy a cheap 42" Vizio for the bdrm. It was a “24hr sale” kind of cheap… and it’s not the primary HDSet in the house. I also read up quite a few reviews and recommendations on avsfor et al… they were 50/50 at best. I knew I was “risking it” on a lower end set.

That being said… I shouldn’t have bought it.

For 300-400 more I would’ve been better off with a few other “comparable” models.

The pixelation is higher then it should be (fast moving scenes), the black levels / contrast are “meh” at best, and the UserInterface fucking sucks.

Sound quality is alright, and it’ll do for its intended purpose.

And, umm, it was almost double the OP’s price range.

Ya, my price range isn’t great. I’m a college kid paying for everything by myself so i’m not going crazy on this tv. Any input or advice is appreciated guys, thanks.

if you’re a broke college student, why do you NEED an HDTV?

Because this is America bitch, and everyone NEEDS an HDTV. And free health care and company sponsored pension plans so they can buy HDTV’s without having to worry about either. Haven’t you been following the other threads?

Who said I was broke? :gotme: I have school paid off for the year already. Only bills I have are car, ins, and rent. I have money in savings and just want and HDTV. At this point in time i’m only willing to spend $500-$600.
