This was a quick fix for some hazing headlights on a parts car of mine that I sold for half the price of the parts car:headbang:
Pretty easy process provided you have a high speed buffer and compunds/glazes. Total time for both sides was about 30 minutes…really doesn’t take too much.
First step was to wetsand with 800 grit until the headlights have an even haze. Second was buffing with a wool pad and compound to get some shine back. Third step was wool pad with glaze. Fourth step was foam pad and glaze. Last was apply a coat of wax by hand and remove by hand.
I dunno??? I’ve done the same to many a fox body headlight…while it doesn’t make them 100% it sure looks much better than before. I could help you out with them if you’re interested…
while on this topic, do you know if it’s possible to sand down and buff the INSIDE of the lens to make it completely clear?
I know the inside is used to spread light a certain way but lets say one wanted to make the lenses completely clear and use projectors with HID’s. Possible?
Yes…but you have to be able to remove the cover from the rest of the housing. I’ve never done it but have heard it can be done provided you have the rights tools and patience. The sanding/buffing part would also apply to the inside of the lens. Also, getting it sealed is important when you’re done.
Did that to somedudes headlamps on his sho, only did one though with instructions to do the other. However I sprayed them with clear, and wet sanded it again + hand buffed it…
800 wet isn’t that harsh actually…yes it could be done by hand, but at the expense of time, which is something I don’t have too much of.
I also think brake fluid on a rag works as a temporary (few months at a time) fix. This was about 8 years ago that I tried this and it worked great, just have to keep the fluid away from the paint. I’m pretty sure it was brake fluid that I had used…
