my wife works at UPS n/c for her & $25 for me & my daughter per mounth!!

Wife is a teacher. That’s basically all that needs said, lol. We’re very fortunate.

This idea is fundamentally wrong in every way. Why? Because it is expensive? You budget for everything else, why not health insurance. You work hard for stuff that you want, maybe even a second job to afford those upgrades and amenities.

The list of reasons why health insurance costs a fortune is very long. Personal responsibility is at the very top of that list. Much like car insurance and homeowners insurance, every single time a claim is made it raises the price of everybody else’s insurance. Costs are out of control because so many people ditch the bill. They go to the ER and then never pay.

The very instant health care is available to everyone, the flood gates will open. Every single ER, doctors office, hospital, EMS, and pharmacy will be completely overwhelmed. It will take months to be seen for routine care, weeks to be seen for urgent care, and there is a really good chance your life threatening injury will kill you during your 14-20 hour wait in the ER.

Think twice before you smoke, drink, race dirtbikes, skydive, swim with sharks, mountain climb, have babies, start your own fight club, or do whatever other self destructive behavior it is that you want to engage in. Think about the cost and think about the burden you impose on others.

There is one place that I totally and completely advocate paying for your health care, food, salary, and education. The Armed Forces of the United States. Go enlist. The health care for you and your dependents is free.

This is possible AFTER about 4-5 years of the worst health care possible.
Wait and see.

I WOULD pay extra taxes AND cash to watch him roll around on the street in pain until a bus runs him over.

Even if it is possible in 4-5 years, it still doesn’t change the fact that I don’t want to pay extra. Next there will be universal car insurance, then universal Home owners insurance. The universal car insurance will cover the 1 car that the government allows you to buy, while living in the one house that they built for you. Soon we will all be equal. No incentive to do better, no reason to try to improve your life. If everything is handed to us, why work? This is already happening in our schools and the next generation is being groomed for this. Examples will follow later.

In a nutshell: “Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society.”

I pay 25.25 for my girlfriend and I. Work puts up a good bit of money for it though.

The guy that stitched himself did a good job. and the guy that cut his fingers off, shouldn’t of been a stupid asshole and used a push stick. Stupidity!!!

I pay roughly $13/pay for just myself with a $20 copay.

I work for a health insurance company and they do cover a good bit of the cost. Even our rates were raised quite a bit for 2009. It seems the trend here is for more of a HDHP instead of the traditional PPO/HMO. For a family, they are more expensive off-the-bat, but can save a ton of money in the long run.

Dom and I are both covered through his employer. When I had my own coverage through my job (with UPMC) it was $30 a pay and the coverage was similar, but not quite as good as Dom’s. When I cut back to part time, it went up to $90 a pay!
So, now we have Cigna, I think it’s an HMO, but we don’t have to select a PCP or have referrals.
