Help in Choosing a Bike

Hows the 250 been treating ya so far?

Good! I’ve put $10 in it as far as gas is concerned since i’ve owned it. Out 230 miles on it and still have 1/4 tank. :ninja

Otherwise it is an awesome bike. The only thing I think they could have done better would have been to FI it instead of the old-school carb. It takes a bit to warm up to operating temp. That is the ONLY thing I can say that this bike has wrong with it. Other than that it has been a blast :o)

I think my first day I owned my bike I put over 250 miles on it.

same here, both bikes the day i got them went all the way past lake george and just driving around all day… Easily 300 miles in a day. Good times

20K miles in a season and a half!

I think I broke 1000 in a few days of having it. Good times, nothing like the first days of being on a motorcycle.

Gah, want one so bad!

On a side note, Troy City Garage’s customer service sucks, at least over the phone. The two times I called to ask questions re: 2008 250R’s, the person who answered was very short, almost to the point of being rude. They offered no additional information besides one-word answers to my questions. I’m reluctant to give them my business, but not sure if it would be worth going elsewhere.

what about Phibbs?

Take a drive up here to Sportline in Queensbury and talk to Andy. Tell him Adam Valastro sent you in. They treated me awesome there and he’s a good guy. Let me know if you want to see the bike still!

Troy City are scumbags. I’ll never give them my business. Everytime i’ve dealt with them they’ve been total ass wipes. Go to Phibbs

Andy’s a great guy, known him for a long time. We’ve (my brothers and I) been sponsored by Sportline since '93 for motocross- and those guys are great when it comes to working out good deals!

I’ve been wanting a bike for a long time. I think i’m going shopping this weekend! I’ve got to admit though, i’ve never rode and dont know anything about bikes lol. Any good shops in the CP area?

You might want to check out Community Colleges’ beginner courses. They’re highly recommended by everyone who takes them. Motorcycle Rider Courses | HVCC :thumb

Yea i’ve been reading all the threads for the new motorcycle guys. The course is definitely something i’ll be interested in should i get a bike.

And read this… http://shift518.com/index.php?topic=1755.0

im going next month to the course in hudson valley, its booked like hell so if u want in better do it NOW

Lots of great info on this site for new riders. Very much appreciated. Sadly i think i’ll be waiting on getting a bike. Regardless of how much i want one, it’s just not logical(financially) for me to get one lol :frowning:

My local kawasaki dealer says that the ninja 250’s are backordered all over the country they said the got 30 deposits on them now

cuz there so cheap and reliable and good on gas lol and damn good lookin for a little bike

err nvm im not i just got the road test instead, the junk only gives you 10% on insurance what is that… for 300 bucks? nah no thanks i know how to ride a bike without giving you 300 bucks to tell me i can =/

I think you’re missing the point.

The course will teach you something new, no matter how well you think you know how to ride and new information is priceless and could potentially save your life.

Self taught people often learn the wrong way and stick with the bad habits they acquired. Sure it might be enough to get you by, but it’s still not proper.

The course is designed for people that planned ahead and didn’t jump the gun and bought the bike before they know how to ride, that way it’s the most effective.

For 300$ you get 10% off your insurance which, over the course of time will pay for itself, especially if your rates are high.
The course also will take 3 points off your insurance, will teach you how to ride without risking of dropping your bike and will save you the hassle of a road test by giving you the license upon completion.

It’s nothing to sneeze at.
