Help me help my wallet!!! (not asking for $$$)

I need some help her. My 180 is getting disgusting gas mileage. I was doing 95km/h to try and see how long I can stretch it and I still burned a half tank after 100km!! I need some ideas to help out my mileage. So any help is greatly appreciated.

Replace the O2 sensor. Have you done maintenance stuff like changing air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, etc?

Yeah that. And also remove your interior. Less weight gives better mileage.

Yeah and start going to the gym. And wear an aerodynamic hat.

Try not to eat or drink 5 hours before driving either.

Aerodynamic hats are not only stylish, but improve gas mileage. :E

I always wore my aerodynamic socks…but that doesn’t make my dad’s buick go faster…damn…it’s all about the hat

i remember seeing you car with a roll cage? you most likly have had a car that was once heavily modified then returned to more a stock form, you probebly got a aftermarket fuel pump!

I was wondering about my fuel pump as well because you can here it running but its a high pitch sound but not sounding like its wearing out. As for the O2 sensor, I remember reading on here about a dodge O2 sensor that works, but does that apply to the CA as well? Where is the fuel filter located? Plugs and air filter are all good. and where does a guy get one of these flashy hats? maybe some aero gloves would go well too? lol. Thanx for the input.

Fuel filter, O2 Sensors and check the timing.

Yea its an aftermarket one. If its going “bzzzzzzzzzzzz” entire time, its an aftermarket one. Previous post said it right, most likely it was a heavier modified car and once they sell it, they start removing some goodies and put stock parts in.

I’ve been going to the gym 3 days a week since the new year started and I’ve gained 15 pounds, what the hell, I’ve even been watching what I eat.

Yeah from what I can tell there has been a few things pulled out of the car before selling it, I.E. Drivers seat, gauges, shifter knob, when I pulled my valve covers off some of the bolts were loose so someones been in there, etc. etc. But the fuel pump doesn’t make a buzzing sounds its more of a high pitch whine that reminds me of a dog whistle.

Aftermarket fuel pumps make that high pitch noise all the time.

i have an aftermarket pump and 450cc injectors (s-afc and ass dyno tuned, so it’s not perfect) and i don’t get milage that bad. 350K/tank is my worst.

k walk behind your car when its idling, if you hear a noise like i dunno, kinda like a high pitched wine you definatly got a fuel pump

What other aftermarket stuff do you have?

Having a AM fuel pump isn’t going to kill your gas milegae by itself. If you have no other fuel system upgrades and aren’t running fuel management, its not going to make much of a difference.

Your fuel filter is a cylinder shaped object on the right (JDM driver side) of the engine bay near the strut tower. It will have a fuel line coming in one end and out the other. If you replace it, buy a new one for a Z32.

Z32 or Pathfinder filter…which ever is cheap is what i usually but.

Yeah the one thing thats a huge problem with importing a car is you never know what all is done to it. I don’t know whats stock and whats A/M. But I will change the fuel filter here this weekend and see if it makes a difference. Also where is the O2 sensor located? Is it right in the Cat? When I pulled it out it looked like a pyrometer more than anything. Also I pulled my cat right out to find it empty, so could that kill mileage? What about upgrading stuff like the MAF and throttle body. Would that make a difference, or could it make it worse?
