help replacing door insert trim

Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing?

I want to take the suade door inserts form the gold door pannels and put them into black door pannels. My guess is that a spray-on glue (not sure what kind) would be the solution, just spray the back of the material and the foam on the pannel, let it sit for a few minutes and then apply.

The question is what kind of glue should I be using?

Any advice?!?

Somewhat limited explanation but it’s all I could find.

I read that article, that’s on how to remouve it, whic takes a few minutes, but what would be the appropriate process to putting on a different material?

its not that easy…i tried replacing it with vinyl (back in my ricer days).

for it to fit properly, without any kinks or bulges, you would need to get the new material to have the exact shape of the old material.
a flat piece of material will be hard to get into the bends at the back and front of the door, so it would be much easier with a fitted piece like the stock one…

cut a piece of material out. suede whatever u want. and use spray on 3m adhesive on the stock insert. place the new material over the insert and use a butter knife to tuck in the edges

He has tan one from a tan door so it already has the shape of the door.

DRE all you need to do is remove them both and get some 3M
Spray on Adheasive for like speakerbox carpet from Homedeopt.

IIRC it’s like $8/can but will do both doors.

^^^ that’s what i thought, i just needed reasurance.

my concern with some of these adhesives is that they might melt the foam core on the door. It can’t be a hard thing to do, just a matter of getting the right adhesive.

I’ll do a test run on the gold door,

thanks for the input
