Help! SR20DET Turbo Manifold

That’s one sick ass mani. For half the price, i’m sure someone can fab one up that is almost identical. I’d like to see someone here have this fine piece of art in their engine bay.

i am sure a bunch of people on here could make one like that as far as functionality, but not as pretty i bet.

Jantos showed me some welds from Metalex that are pretty sweet. Not as clean as this job, but still great bends and such. You still running stock manifold? Any plans to upgrade?

i believe that mani is just spot welded to test fit everything before they weld it all up, but yea radim is probobly the best mani builder i’ve seen, I love his welds they are sexy

those welds are just spot welded as has been mentioned, ( it will be taken apart and then welded up pc by pc so the TIG gun can get to the spots that are buried… )… and yes their are allot of people who could make that header. me included. However allot of the people who can make it, MAY make it for themselves but they have no assumptions or asperations , that they will sell another in like it in the next 4 years… just TOO much money… you all love that header it’s damn sexy, but how many of you have or would spend the $1000 or so to actually get that made?? it’s hard enough to get people to spend $350-$450 on a header never mind more then double that… In the US or Japan I can see that being made for @ $600 a pop, but here in Canada the population density required to have the amount of people that would swing for that thing in one year is not here.

So you work with what you can get… and that seems to be the megan right now…

304SS is not the material of choice for 900 degree aplications.(turbo collectors). 321 is the best and 316 is passable. If the construction first rate they will hold under stress even at 900degrees.

i was refering to the person who created this topic not you.

if you do a search on zilvia you will see all of this discussed 100x and one post which is coverd by elepathy on a dyno shows the power curve and gains with the megan

i am just going to properly install one of the manifolds that i brought in on the group buy.

i was happy with the quality and price point.

the decision has been made to simply fix all the cars little issues instead of trying to make it faster.

i vote you make a whole bunch of these manifolds in exchange for a banner swap.

then we will all tell everyone that you are unbelievablly cool and spread all kinds of other flattering rumors about you and your skill

You can also install a piece of flex pipe (not the crappy tail pipe repair stuff) after the DP to reduce the stress on the manifold.

and why would you spend 1000USD on a manifold :?
Especially on a car that never see’s track use.

IMO mild steel weld elbows and 3/8" thick flanges will work for me and anyone else on here.

Andrew.

:liar:

So who’s going to still be running 14.1’s?

U DIE NOW!!!

your looking at a sag temp difference of less then 300-400deg between all three yet your pricing just doubled because you went ( special order ) to 321 or 316 also both of those metals are much harder ( rockwell) then 304/L so now you have to do special pre heating to mandrel bend it… you’ve doubled the cost per bend. a header that cost $400 just went to $800. I use 304L on rotary headers … dude if 304L stands up to a turbo rotary heat… it will more then stand up to any piston engine heat… it’s less about the material at that level and more about how you make it. the only place I’d use the higher numbers is on a pure race car where the money is willing to be spent for permenent extreme use.

HA! the worlds most expensive banner ad… not for this monkey.

What about one-time custom manifolds? I know it’ll be expensive, but can you do better than full-race for pricing without sacrificing performance/quality? You can still run a business that way too, bigger profit margins for you too, and you won’t need to worry about selling 10 manifolds. Guy (or gal) gives you a downpayment for a mani, you build it, they give you the rest of the $. Little or no risk that way for you.
