help with setting timing on a f250 351

did u happen to drain the fluid b4 the gasket swap?

there was no antifreeze in the oil we didnt change it but im going to once it runs

Ok simple. Don’t do the 50/50 chance bullshit. Take #1 plug out. Stick your finger in the spark plug hole. Crank the engine untill you feel/hear compression under you finger. You can crank the engine by hand or bump the starter. Then line 0 up with you timing mark. You are now #1 TDC compression. Now you can go ahead and replace your dist.

Perfect! Aand if u don’t want to put ur finger in #1 to see if it is TDC then u can always take a zip tie n see where ur at(DONT DROP IT IN THOUGH!). Then after that if it still runs like shit atleast u know it is not ur problem

jeff from first try was just hear helpin me and still no go we are thinkin maybe timeing chain jumped because the nothch on the dampener and tdc dont match up.

jeff from first try and i just tried everything we think the timing chain jumped because tdc anh the notch on the dampener dont match up

:wtf: How are you going to replace a head gasket on a 351w without pulling the distributor?..
