ENGINE OIL LEVEL AND GRADE

APPLIED VEHICLES:
All

SERVICE INFORMATION

The cause of some driveability incidents is incorrect oil level or viscosity. Whenever you evaluate a vehicle for a driveability problem, check the oil level first. (It is a good practice to check oil level on
every vehicle that you work on.)

Overfilling may cause engine vibration or valve train clatter on vehicles with hydraulic lash adjusters due to oil aeration when the crankshaft hits the oil. Using the wrong viscosity oil can cause rough or low idle resulting from improper operation of the hydraulic lash adjusters.

When you add or change the engine oil, follow the service manual recommendations regarding proper oil fill level. Do not overfill the crankcase. If you find a vehicle to be overfilled with oil, drain the excess oil and dispose of properly. Remember to wait ten (10) minutes after refilling before checking. This allows time for the oil to drain back to the pan.

Always use the proper viscosity oil specified by the service manual for the temperature range in your geographic area. The viscosity specifications ensure proper engine operation and best engine efficiency.

these are a few I found on line there are more but I don’t have the time to post them all right now.

If we can post all of these up we can add this to FAQ…

I remember there was one with the seatbelts, where the plastic would dry
out and crack, meaning they wouldnt buckle up.

For ANY Recall on ANY Vehicle Please Check Out: http://www.alldata.com/recalls/index.html

No recalls are only valid for x period of time.

Anyone have any ideas on what the oil cooler cleaning bulletin pertains to (as in anything out of the ordinary)? Just curious, and you have to subscribe to that site to get the actual bulletins :frowning:

Any idea how to actually get to read these automotive recalls rather than just listing them?

The US government site http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ most of them should apply to us. The Canadian government site is here http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/recalls/search_e.asp and should have anything missed in the US one. Also www.Canadiandriver.ca has listings of recall info. For TSB’s you should contact Nissan.

the bulletins i posted were cut and paste right off of a shop /mechanics program. If you have a Parts Source near you go in and see if they have mitchell on demand available to the public(the one here does) Mitchell will have all the bulletins on it.
