Re “Bush Defends U.S. Handling of Lebanese Conflict, Asserting That Hezbollah Is the Loser” (news article, Aug. 15):
President Bush seems to have failed to recognize a fundamental of negotiation: when you’ve won what you were after, you don’t rub salt into the wound of your “losing” adversary — especially within minutes of a final, signed agreement.
Thus, without realizing it, President Bush, though devoid of his flight suit costume, may have staged another of his “Mission Accomplished” fiascos.
