Hicas uprights questions

Hello All
I will be installing a new non Hicas subframe in my Hicas car and I want to keep my uprights.
Can I just press out the bolt joints and press in some bushing that can accommodate the toe arms?
Where can I get such bushings?

yes.

Nissan I believe.

Yes I know that, but what do I ask for when I get there.
Is there a particular name for these bushings? or Can any other part distrubutor but nissan carry then?

I know there’s a HICAS kit you can get but why do that? when you can simply just disconnect your steering positioning sensor or even easier still you should be able to disconnect the HICAS reservoir sensor. its a little wire that comes out the top of the cap you use to fill up the steering fluid.

What this dose is the next time you start the car the HICAS system will do a quick self diagnostics. It will find an error because you disconnected this thing and it will go into safe mode. Safe Mode is when it activates the fail safe valve near the right rear tire and turns the car into 2 wheel steering. This should be simply fixed by shutting down the car reconnecting the sensor and turning it back on again. I’m sorry I haven’t tried this my self because the bastards who owned my car before me broke my HICAS some how. This is the quick fix I plan to do to my car so your more then welcome to give it a try if it works let me know.

The way to test the HICAS System to see if it works is to jack the rear end up so the tires can spin free. Put your foot on the gas and spin the back tires over 2500 RPM Then turn the wheel left and right full steering lock to see if the tires move it should just be about an inch to 2 inchs of steering angle. If it doesn’t move then guess what your HICAS is off and drift away.

Won’t it have free play if its not working? Doesn’t the steering rack at the back have to be locked to completely eliminate the HICAS system?

I’ve always wanted to put my car on stands and see the rear wheels turn lol. I only have 2 jackstands though, which I borrowed from a friend, FAIL.

The Hicas steering shouldn’t turn , the hicas system sends out some hydaudric fluid to the rack at the back when the system activates, And it shouldnt be activated when the car is off.
From what I have heard, it pushes fluid at a certain speed and pulls fluid at another speed in order to counter or follow the car direction in the turn.

Back to the subject: I just wanted to keep my upright and convert the car to non hicas all togheter, that’s why I was asking if I could just press out the Hicas bolt join and press in something else.
