Towne may suck, but you don’t pull a stunt like that because they’re rude to you about not giving you a discount that you are in no way entitled to.
Meehhhh, I see both sides. I think its one thing to expect better service from a company that hes spent hundreds of thousands of dollars at over the years, but another thing to feel entitled to it. Overall, not something youd like to see from a local dealership but you cant say there are many high class local dealers who would honor that.
So his car’s out of warranty, but only barely, and needs a major repair and BMW told him to pound salt. I would have expected better service, but not out of the dealership’s pocket. He’s handling it like a spoiled brat.
It’s such a massively ugly car from nearly every angle anyway. Ugh.
These situations never have a winner, yeah it sucks for the guy but legally it seems BMW is in the clear.
I’m sure he tried to contact BMW NA and was polite and reasonable before he resorted to this.
bwahahahahaha if I worked at the dealer I would have done the same. Or had the police tow it because it was a hazard on the side of the street.
Yeah, the dealer can help you out, if they want.
However, I’m willing to bet that the guy didn’t even buy the car from them and probably never serviced there either.
There are good customers you can’t help and there are bad customers you don’t want to.
Well he got his point across but now no dealer will want to work with this guy.
I can see how this originally went down…
“Extended warranties? Those things are for suckers, if you build a good product…I shouldn’t need one. Are you telling me your product is inferior?”
[sarcasm]Yeah, I can totally see this guy being polite and reasonable.[/sarcasm]
BMW should call him and say it was just a misunderstanding. It’s not so much an out of warranty repair cost, as a fee for putting such ugly fucking rims on one of their vehicles and perpetuating the stereotype that all BMW drivers are giant douchebags.
Out of warranty at 20k? What year is it?
2007, and apparently it’s got 28k.
So this is a buddies car that I went to high school with, just figured I’d post this on a car forum due to the situations going on.
Cliffs from what I’ve learned:
-07 BMW M6: $119,000 20,000 miles under the warranty limit, 3 months past his warranty time frame.
-Car decides its time for a $7000 engine problem
-BMW wont pay to fix this issue
-BMW wont work with him to pay anything or help with any of the costs.
-he parks car in front of BMW with sign
-troopers called and told bmw they cant do anything about it.
-the sign gets taken
-legal actions pressed against Towne BMW for theft and damage.
-photo and story are making the rounds now.
What are your thoughts to this situation when paying that much for a car. I feel with a car that near to the warranty time frame and the fact hes way under the amount of miles allowed for the warranty, they could at least fix/help a bit to lower the costs of the problem.
I understand its past warranty, but that expensive of a car means you have potential business again to sell a car to this person when they realized you helped them out.
what are your thoughts to this situation?
lol
NO FUCKING WAY
Now knowing its one of your friends this makes perfect sense
Also saw on Reddit that someone wrote “out of warranty” on the car? Any idea in what?
Nevermind the repost, did your buddy buy it from Towne? Did he even buy it new?
Hopefully with the blade of a key.
Yambag confirmed this is one of his friends seems to make sense now
