Has anyone used this or know somehow that has? I can’t afford an upgraded turbo/injectors right. HKS claims they are stronger and have a bit of adjustability. Anyone think they’re worth it?
I have the HKS actuator on my car.
Usually used with upgraded turbos or if you have a tired stock actuator. It does offer some adjustability with your boost levels.
It depends why you think you need it. If your stock one is good, runing a stock turbo and what not, I wouldn’t bother upgrading. An option is a boost controller which you can use throughout the life of the car anyhow. I know it was worth it for my situation.
What is your particular situation if you don’t mind me asking?
A stronger unit means more reliability and I can take it off and use it for upgraded turbos whenever I get around to buying one. I bought a manual boost controller off of ebay, all the Aussies are raving about this simple little controller, no spikes or anything so it was cheap and I tried it. So is this basically having two manual controllers then if I had the actuator kit?
Also, do HKS turbos all come with an actuator kit attached anyways?
Well, the upgraded turbo is my situation… lol
Yes, more reliability is right. But if you are not running more boost, I don’t really see the sense in it. Although, if you have the cash, why not? Giv’er then.
It is somewhat like two manual boost controllers. The tighter you make the actuator, the more boost it will run initially.
Not sure on the HKS turbos.
Be aware that some turbos need to have a bracket made to mount the actuator to (i.e GT25R).
