Hockey Puck Engine Mounts

I’ve been doing some research on hockey puck mounts,it seems to be a cheap alternative oppossed to buying expensive aftermarket mounts. They cost around $20 to make and people say they seem to get the job done just fine. So does anyone on SON run hockey puck mounts?? If so, how do they hold up, and what is the ride like??

Nate

i have had them. they work fine just looks cheap.

just fill your stock mounts with urethane, use ‘3M window weld’ best stuff on the market,

i just googled it for reference, i didnt clean mine or anything, just loaded them up with the 3m stuff, you can do the tranny mount also works like charm! you might notice a mild vibration/resonance at idle tho, hardly an issue when you compare the improvement over stock

I think im going to do the pucks for the engine mounts, and than use that 3m window weld stuff for the tranny mount, just think it would be cool to say i have hockey pucks for engine mounts lol.

I used a boat roller from princess auto and cut it to size, http://www.princessauto.com/all-seasons/recreational/power-sports/summer/8095101-2-x-9-guide-on-roller worked well so far

You’ll hate it, they’re stiff as shit and they deteriorate over time. Just get Nismo mounts, much worth the penny and you won’t regret after.

Yea i hear there really stiff but the car isnt going to be a daily, ill only be driving it a couple of times or so a week and taking it to the track. I can spend the money id use on nismo mounts for something else.

I run pucks. Won’t recommend it for a DD. You will find every loose nut and bolt on your car very quickly lol. Not to sure about how long they last, my driftcar only hits the track maybe 6-7 times a year and I installed them at the beginning of the summer. 2 and a half pucks retained the stock engine level for a SR.

It will be retarded, don’t do it!

I find the Megan Racing mounts too stiff already…so much vibration, I wear earplugs on long drives.

If it’s strictly a track car, then go for it I guess…vibration still hurts your car, don’t forget that.

It will be street driven a few times a week, throughout researching alot of people said the vibration is only retarded on a cold start, and idle/ lower rpms.

I wouldnt recommend it on the street. Every stop light and stop sign will have your balls shaken right off. when it dips below 1000rpm lol all hell breaks loose or shakes loose.

LoL, Not sure if cool is the right word. More like cheap.

Depends on the application. If it serves a sole purpose as a track car then its the perfect set up. No engine or tranny movement what so ever. Ive seen $250-$300 Hard race and Nismo mounts come out of the car in 2 peices. So for 20$ you can replace em once a year if you really wanted too.
