i had them when they came out. wore them about 6-8 months skating on them about 4x a week. had a problem with the glue on the heel. so i sent them back to bauer. took them 4 mo to get them back to me but i got a new pair friday.
I skated on a pair of Rbk 7k pumps over that 4 months and HATED them with a passion.
the one90 is a narrow skate, but once you heat them, they are as comfortable as socks.
As for Franklin composite shafts, I just cracked one in half Monday night. I’m heading out Perani’s tomorrow to check out a little higher end brands and maybe pickup a Montreal 1 pc for a backup. Some guy let me borrow his $200 Easton 1 pc but I was afraid to use it and the hook on that thing was ridiculous. I grew up playing with straight blade Sherwoods my grandpap gave me so any type of pass or shot I tried sent that puck flying in the air.
I play with Chad Smort and BurnyD…league goalie, almost every week. Trying to get as much ice time as possible. If anyone needs a player for Harmar/Warrendale teams let me know tho the seasons already started, Im willing and ready.
I’m using MIssion Amp1 Flylights right now and love them. BEeore that is was good ol Tacks forever. Just the right amount of heel incline for me.
I’ve had pretty good luck with those Franklin shafts, but I’m only 160lbs. I don’t use my slap that often either. MY problem is I’m not afraid to knock down shots from the point, which never bodes well for composite sticks. I’m also not a fan of the new trend with heel curves. I like a decent toe curve but only for puck handling ability, it does nothing for your shot, unless the net is mounted on the ceiling.
I was talking to Dan about coming out to play Thursday nights with you guys, but driving home to Brentwood and still getting up for work @ 5 is not likely. Those late games are hard for me to accomodate. If you guys have anything earlier I’d be down for some ice time.
I’m a big fan of the Forsberg/Modano curve in the Eastons and I have 2 Crosby Curves in the Sherwood. Crosby is too open face though, I’ve damn near killed some people on high shots
I’d kill to get a pro stock version of Crosby’s curve in a right handed model. I like playing with very little curve, my wrist shot is hard enough no matter that. My main problem is keeping the damn puck down. Usually it looks like I’m taking target practice hitting the goalie in the chest with anything other than a closed face blade like a Forsberg.
I have this same problem… I have a Thornton stick and a 2 peice with a Forsberg blade and they both seem to be a little too open, but the forsberg isn’t quite as bad, I can pick the corners a little better with that.
If you can’t keep the shot down with the Forsberg curve, then it is your shot, not the blade. Got to make sure you are turning your wrists down to keep your shots low and then opening them up a little bit when you want to get the puck up.
Forsberg for me combines everything I need. I can stickhandle good, my passes are excellent, and my shots are low and hard unless I make a conscious effort to lift them.
