Home theatre static issues

I have an older Sony Reciever STR-SE545, technic 3 way 15" woofer front speakers, two smaller technic rears, and a technic center. I am having problems with static at low volumes. I have it hooked up using 18 guages wire and the reciever set to 8ohms to match the front speakers.

Any clues on how to fix the static sound?

It its a old receiver it just may be worn. Rotary volume knobs wear to where they produce static as do old connectors. Best fix would most likely be a new receiver.

maybe 66impalass can help - sounds like it needs some pear wires!!!

Would significantly reduce the static…

buy new shit, your setup blows

does it only static crackle when you go up down on the volume/

bad ground somewhere, try moving your set up to a different part of the house and try it again.

usually its the rehistat for the volume control is dirty, clean or buy a new one

and no i cant spell rehostat

RE-AH-STAT

rheostat

from what i’ve read this is the most likely problem long with a bad ground, I’m going to pull the reciever apart tomorrow, clean it and see if that fixes the static.

As for buying new shit I am in college=no money!

Just clean your knob with tuner cleaner.
