Less than a year after purchasing a 45 percent share in the team, Honda has agreed to acquire founding owner British American Tobacco’s 55 percent majority share. Honda will complete the purchase of the remaining shares by the end of 2005.
The acquisition was announced in a press conference held by Honda in Tokyo on Tuesday, ahead of their home grand prix at Suzuka this weekend. This race will also mark Honda’s 100th grand prix with BAR.

So Ferrari has it’s own team, Toyota and BMW have their own autonomous teams, and now Honda follows suit. Interesting. I feel sorry for Jordan, Red Bull, Williams, and Sauber.
Here’s the thing about Honda: now that they have sole ownership of the team, will they go balls out on the new engine development? How will this affect having a Japanese driver in F1 (Sato or otherwise). Also, now that the manufacturers are grabbing up teams that they totally control, does this advance the calender for a split from F1 to form their own series if they get tired of Bernie and Max Mosley?
It looks to me like they are creating a powerbase for themselves in future dealings with rule changes as well as a leg to stand on in the event of a series split.

Not after the last few races… Button has been finishing in the points regularlly now while Sato… well, he’s got potential. There’s a rumor that Sato might be driving one of the four Red Bull cars though, considering that they might be powered by Honda.
button is an arrogant little fuck, who wanted to go drive for Williams, but now they dont have a car for him. now hes crying that he wants to stay with Honda. Honda from what i have read said that he’s on his own with it, and Williams isnt going to let him out of his contract.

I agree with ya that Button is a whiny little bitch. He may be finishing in the points, but I don’t think he has it in him to ever win a race (except by luck). And as for the contract disputes, HE bought out his own contract with Williams for 30 Million and is now confirmed as a Honda driver for next year along side Barrichello.
