I’m not going to go into explaining the new rules, if you comment on the looks and haven’t read them you need to stfu. That being said, most of them look like shit (except the Williams and the initial testing shots of the BMW), but I don’t care as initial tests say there is virtually no front aero loss when following now. I also find Ferrari’s playing with the side aero bit rules amusing (their mirrors mounted to the barge board are CLEARLY an aerodynamic device)
I’m surprised you like the Ferrari, especially in the view with Massa and Kimi standing behind it, the front nose looks SOOO long. Like a praying mantis about to eat her young.
I literally think Toyota’s car is the '08 car with all the aero taken off and the spec '09 front and rear wings.
I like the amount of negative toe in the rear, and the amount of positive in the front. Hilarious, I know the '08 car didnt have that much, really must be struggling for grip and turn in with the new aero rules.
Uhg part of the cars look good, and then other parts make me wanna :barf: The toyota is probably the least radical looking, will probably be the slowest too.
There is the image I was refering to, look how awkward it looks from the sidepods forward. It appears as though someone photoshopped extra room in for the Ferrari shield on the side.
I like the McLaren, I just hate LH and have no opinion of the sterile attitude of HK. Maybe I should change the title to 2009 Formula 1 Season discussion.
Can you educate me on some of the rules. I thought they had to run the entire race on one set of tires? How can having all of that negative toe possibly be good for the tire wear?
Nope, tire changes and fuel stops are still legal for this year. The one set of tires rule was 2005 only. The largest changes are engines now have to last 3 races, gearboxes 4 (which was last year too IIRC), KERs introduction (electric energy recovery), new rules for front and rear wings, combined with a reduction in aero levels to approximately to 2002 “levels”. They banned all the side flaps and wings etc other than the barge board, front and rear wings basically. They also made the front wings active so the driver can adjust downforce levels on course at any time. Along with bringing back slick tires and a few other technical changes.
Looking at the overhead shot and that front/rear toe is making my head spin. I just start thinking about how they arrived at those settings and you can go around and around all night thinking about it.
Amusingly the new design looks a lot like it’s little brother the FBMW’s IMO. Certainly not the best of the new designs, but I dont hate the way it looks.
While Vettel is certainly my pick for the future, he doesnt have the car behind him to be a “top driver” this season. LH is a prick. I’ll stick with Massa and Ice Man, with a bit of Nick the Quick mixed in.
