Honda powered Fiero

IN.

I had a 2M4 quite a few years ago as a winter beater. I hate like hell now that I abused the shit out of it every winter, but the thing was a fucking tank. Can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Some work was done today. I scrapped the broken motor, here are some pics of the carnage.

I also removed the rear trunk space to make room for a rear diffuser and to add lightness. Also planning on angling the radiator further forward, and adding an X brace to the front “trunk” space along with a hood vent.

Awesome idea. In to see how this progresses.

SOHC Honda Power… with two cams!

I haven’t seen too many of the G23s done, good luck.
Definitely let me know if you need any parts - should be able to help you along with your build.

Actually, I still need to find a H22 Head and tranny, on the cheap. And a p72 ecu, and hondata S300.

Theres a guy on our MR2 forums that converted a prelude to mid engined. He rallys it.

Ive also seen a mid 80’s celica for sale with a double supercharged 5.4l in a mid engined layout that i think was still awd too…

Just bought ARP rod bolts and head studs. Still haven’t found a head or tranny cheap but I’m sure they’re out there.

I have a h22a long block forsale.

A few updates:

I plan on reinforcing the front end to replace the structural integrity removed from that sheet metal as well a duct to remove the airflow from the radiator

I painted the F23 block

And made a plate for an engine mount, it looks kinda funny because I used the AC mount as a template.

So, I picked up a full H22 on the cheap, Brought it into the garage with the help of Drew, took the head off and it looks okay, going to send it to a machine shop to be decked and hot tanked.

I need the H22 water pump pulley and timing belt pulley as well. *I’m going to try to sell the H22 block but if it will likely become a coffee table instead.

I’m not confident the project will ever come to fruition… moreso optimistic.

Not the final placement of the intercooler.

Basically I’m planning on using steel tube to reinforce the strut brace I had to remove, and attaching the intercooler to that with vents from the bottom of the car and some electric puller fans, other than that its coming together slowly!

So, I decided to modify the cradle again as well as re-design my rear motor mount.
Changed from forced induction (turbo) to naturally aspirated.
And fabricated the exhaust system.
I deleted the HVAC and stock dash.
Cut a hole in the hood to vent the radiator.

It consists of an eBay header (why pay more for something I planned to chop up)
a 2" to 3" cone adapter
3" v band clamp
3" Magnaflow Stainless muffler
3" Summit Racing glasspack
18 ga sheet metal gussets

I also painted the valve cover metallic blue (a GM color apparently)

I have been toying with the idea of a future “rear” mount turbo, mounted above the rear crossmember of the engine cradle to allow gravity drain oil return, but that will have to wait until the car runs and drives.

My next major hurdles include:
Custom axles (fiero outers and honda inners)
Accord shifter mounted inside the car
Transmission shifter linkage as pictured above
Front radiator venting out the hood
Stiffer springs (350 lb/in)
Neptune honda engine management
Clutch/Pressure plate/Flywheel
Send the head for machining
Assemble the Frankenstein motor/ Timing belt ect.
AEM UEGO for air fuel monitoring
Honda Gauges
Custom Sheetmetal dash

I did some welding on the engine cradle

how are you addressing the drivetrain mix and match? honda gearbox or original gearbox? what are you going to do for axles?

It’s been awhile, anything new?

I too would love to see an update…
